Last Friday, we were invited to one of the First Ascent parties by Brooklyn Boulders owner, Stephen Spaeth.  The parties are their way of thanking members who purchased year-long memberships prior to the facility opening by giving them first access to areas of the gym as they finish.  Even with only one top-roping wall and the bouldering area open for climbing we had an absolute blast and climbed for hours.  The staff and volunteers on hand were super helpful and friendly and the place is just downright BANANAS.   It's like Disney World opening up down the street from you. Please check these guys out, I can foresee countless SBK outings to BKB!

The C.R.A.S.H.-B. Indoor Rowing Championships are coming up this February in Boston and CrossFit South Brooklyn wants to send a team!  Nick Peterson (2000 Olympic team) has volunteered to be our rowing coach for the event and will be prepping all interested athletes with workshops and regularly posted endurance WODs leading up to the competition. All interested participants should review the material on the website and send an email to David(at)CrossFitSouthBrooklyn.com.  Within the next two weeks we will have a kick off seminar reviewing the event, programming and our first technique session.

Deb and Alec's Shoulder Seminar is back on!
When: Sunday, August 2nd from 1:30-4pm. 
What: Basic anatomy, normal mechanics, impingement and restorative/protective exercises will all be covered.
Who: Alec and Deb run a practice in NYC where they use various methods of manual therapies and neuromuscular re-education to restore balance, freedom of movement and comfort in posture to the body.
Cost: 30$, Space is limited, please RSVP through David(at)CrossFitSouthBrooklyn.com

The World is Flat Academic Earth

In this workout you move from each of five stations after a minute.
This is a five-minute round from which a one-minute break is allowed
before repeating. Todays fight is 3 Rounds. The stations are:

Wall-ball: 20/14/10 pounds   10/8 ft target. (Reps)
Sumo deadlift high-pull: 75/55/45 pounds (Reps)
Box Jump: 20"/15"/10" (Reps)
Push-press: 75/55/45 pounds (Reps)
Row: (Calories)

The
clock does not reset or stop between exercises. On call of "rotate,"
the athlete/s must move to next station immediately for good score. One
point is given for each rep, except on the rower where each calorie is
one point.
