Workout of the Day
STRENGTH
2 Sets
3 Power Cleans + 3 Shoulder to Overheads
2 Sets
2 Power Cleans + 2 Shoulder to Overheads
3-4 Sets
1 Power Clean + 1 Shoulder to Overhead
Notes
Use any method of getting the bar from the shoulders to overhead: you might choose to strict press or push press at lighter loads, then push jerk or split jerk as you get to heavier loads.
Press outs are considered no-reps today!
Aim to perform 1 set about every 2 minutes or so. You can build in load across all 7-8 sets today, or if you find a sufficiently challenging weight to work your technique at, stay there and be as consistent as possible.
METCON

SB: Moderate load. Should be able to complete the 4 reps in < 30 sec. Alternate shoulders each rep. Show control at the top of each rep by taking your “free hand” off the bag and out to the side for a moment.
HSW: Choose an inversion variation that is challenging but you don’t get “stuck” on.

B. 20 alternating “Penguin Walks” – break into smaller sets as needed!
C. 4 Wall Walks
D. 80ft High-Hip Bear Crawl
Programming Template: Week 5/8

I did this in open gym and there was only 3 ppl and coach whit, and I think I looked crazy because I was in a state of shock, excitement, and sense of accomplishment and I just felt so seen by them!! 😅😬
Work hard
Speaking of working hard, you need to actually do this. Once your technique is consistent, you need to push. Intensity is where the adaptations live. Most people start to tap out when they become “uncomfortable,” they hit their psychological tolerance and terminate a set thinking they may be close to failure. Often people underestimate what they’re capable of. It’s okay to fail, it can be a valuable teacher in a controlled environment. Not every day needs to be a grind, your effort and intensity will fluctuate, that’s normal, but most of your days need to push you outside your comfort zone.
Bonus* “Work on your thing”. Do you have a goal specific to you? Double Unders? Your first pull-up? 2-3x per week you need to work on it if we didn’t work on it in class. Take 10 extra minutes after or before class to work on the thing you want to develop. Not sure what to do? Ask a coach, look online, just start messing around with it. You don’t need a perfect plan. You want double unders? grab a rope and start jumping, fail, get frustrated, try again, try again try again, surprise yourself.. try again. There are a million free progressions for most things on youtube and most of them work if you do them.
