Jess P. representing CFSBK at the 2nd event of this year’s Subway Series (we see you, too, Thomas!). We’ll be hosting the 3rd event of the Subway Series tomorrow. Come over to the gym at noon to watch the action and cheer for your buds!
1. We’ll be running on a modified schedule for the big day tomorrow. Morning classes will run on the usual schedule, but everything from 11am onward is cancelled (i.e., 10am classes are the last of the day).
2. Fight Gone Bad fundraising season is here! So far we’ve raised just over $4,000 for Brooklyn Community Foundation. On Monday, we offered an email template you can send to your friends and family.
3. Front desker Karina S. has a show with her sketch team this Monday, October 16th at 7:30pm! Karina tells us, “It’s got some bizarre, spooky-funny sketches and makes a great date night. Also, you’ll get to see me making a rare cameo on stage in some spooky circumstances.” Check out the Magnet Theater website for ticket info and more details.
4. As we’ve mentioned before, Coach KHarpz is writing a series for our friends at beyond the whiteboard on her training for next year’s Northeast Regionals. Check out the most recent installment, “Trusting the Process”!
5. Need to build a foundation for gymnastics work on the rings? Check out this fun video of Coach David demonstrating a basic ring support!

TFW you get an email from KHarpz after your PT session with “PS I made up some evil WODs 4 U” in the subject line 😛
15 min NFR
0:30 bar hang
10 Crossover Symmetry A-T-Y-T, 2 sets @10#, 3 sets @7#
10 blackburns
I switched to lower weight on the A-T-Y-T, this was really tough today for some reason. I’m not sure if it’s because I actually slept *longer* last night than I have at any point since hurting my shoulder (so I was extra sore when I woke up this morning, maybe because I slept on it wrong) or because I took a bigger step back from the rig and thus made the movement harder. But it wasn’t painful, just fatiguing.
FSQ 4×20 @63#
OMG. I’ve been begging Katie to let me squat and hahahahaha be careful what you wish for because the answer might be “now do 4 sets of 20”! Actually this wasn’t bad. The weight was light and it was just an endurance/mental thing. The first set was easy and after that it got a bit challenging.
4 RFT
400m run
12 V-ups
12 air squats
I have no idea how long this took me because the clock got reset during my second round. 12 minutes-ish? I did go hard (for me) on the runs.
So excited that I’m cleared for group class (with mods) tomorrow! Not on a regular basis yet, but at least tomorrow’s WOD is something I can easily tweak. I miss you guys!

7am, Thursday’s work with Brett!
Came back from a short vacation so I felt a little out of it..but I still PR’d my clean! Worked up to 123# and nearly choked myself with the barbell in the process… Does this happen often to other people?
Rowing sprints were terrible and painful, both mentally and physically. That was one of the very small handful of times I’ve ever truly wanted to quit in the middle of a workout. I spent a good chunk of the day just feeling so grateful that I was sitting in my office chair and not on the erg!
First and shortest was 1:57 (I think?) and then 2:01, 2:03.
