Congrats to all of our artists last night, and huge thanks to everyone who came out to CFSBK’s first Art Show, especially to Katie H. and Brad L. who helped set up at the eleventh hour and to everyone who helped put all the gear away. It was a fantastic night. Photos coming soon!

Visited Crossfit Solace in Manhattan yesterday. I represented them in the deal and promised I would check it out. Super duper high-end which is weird coming from CFSBK. The PVC pipes were black with Rogue painted on them and the locker rooms were very spa-like. Not my thing.
The program was as follows.
Warm-Up
200m Row
10 PVC Good Mornings
10 Air Squats
10 Push-Ups
Not much of a warm up since it was just one round.
Skill & Strength
Practice Banded Deadlifts
These were interesting as I have never done them before. But the coaching was pretty non existent. He spent all of his time teaching us how to set up the band and no time demonstrating the movement. Lots or rounded backs.
Conditioning
Team WOD
“Fight Gone Bodyweight”
In teams of 2, complete 3 rounds each:
1 min max pull ups
1 min max push ups
1 min max sit ups
1 min max air squats
1 min max calories rowed
1 min rest
Disorganized but fun easy WOD.

8am with the Foxes. Today was a lot of fun. The ring work was a good time. The band-assisted levers got a little silly. Inversions actually went pretty well-for whatever reason, I feel like I have a decent amount of control and coordination with that. Then the levers…oy. Leading with the heels on the way down: got it, no problem. Leading with the hips on the way back up: I understand the concept, but actually making it happen is another story. It's a lot of fun to practice, though. Then the cash out. Sally (aka, my ass) was indeed brought up and down many times. And now that damn song is in my head, possibly permanently.

Shawn, now it's in my head too, and I didn't even go to class today! Thanks a lot. 😛
Went for a 5-mile run since today decided to be fall instead of winter. Loved it.

Art show was fantastic. Congrats to everyone. Kinda was blown away. Great job Kate, David and all others who put it together.
Sadly, yesterday was the last rings strength class. It was a great five weeks. I'll be back for the next cycle. Thanks Ken and classmates for all the coaching and support.
Pause squats: worked up to 175. I love these.

🙁 about CF Solace
The art show was great last night. I had a blast!! The turn out was amazing and the art was even better. Huge thanks to Kate R who was the mastermind behind it despite my initial resistance to the idea. I was dead wrong, it was a slam dunk! Thanks to everyone who came!

Big soccer — and trophy! — weekend. Coached the Blue Thai Fighters (Siena's co-ed team of 6&7 year olds) to victory in their last game yesterday.
And then Fighting Tacos' 6-1 blow-out championship game today! Such a beautiful day and so much fun. I didn't score a goal but I did execute a pretty sweet backward roll mid-play.
Great end to the season. I'll miss the bike rides over the Manhattan bridge, but I'm hoping to play at Brooklyn bridge park next year.
Huge thanks to Noah for all the organizing and being the spirit behind the team — kind of like coach, manager, captain and mascot all rolled into one.
And thanks to everyone who came to cheer us on.
Well done tacos!

First post (but longtime comments reader):
Deadift 250, 275, 285. Noah encouraged me to use the double overhand grip. But after 250 it was slipping from my fingers by the first rep, so I switched to switch grip mid set. Going to have to strengthen my grip.
WOD 241 reps @115#. Happy to see push-ups in the WOD today. I also enjoyed the 2 min on/off format: a lot easier to dial up the intensity when you know it will be over in 120 seconds.
