The whole crew from Fight Gone Bad 2013
Announcing Fight Gone Bad 2014!!!
Since 2008, CrossFit South Brooklyn has conducted a yearly fundraiser in the form of a workout called Fight Gone Bad. Last year, we raised over $40,000 for the Brooklyn Community Foundation (BCF), a local organization dedicated to improving the lives of people in Brooklyn by strengthening communities through local giving, grantmaking, and community service. This year, we’ll be partnering with BCF again and hope to surpass last year’s donation numbers.
Last year we had 180 members participating and this year, we’re capping it at 200.
The registration deadline is Monday September 1, 2014.
Tell Me More…
When is Fight Gone Bad?
Saturday, October 18th, 2014. First heat begins at 9am.
What is Fight Gone Bad?
Three rounds, as many reps as possible, of:
Wall-balls, 20lb, 10ft / 14lb, 9ft
Sumo deadlift high-pulls, 75/55 pounds
Box Jumps, 20″ box
Push-presses, 75/55 pounds
Row
In this workout, you move from each of five stations after a minute. The clock does not reset or stop between exercises. When the announcer calls “Rotate,” athletes must move to next station immediately. Each of the three rounds is five minutes, followed by a one-minute rest. One point is given for each rep, except on the rower where each calorie is one point.
What if I can’t attend that Saturday, October 18?
Sign up anyway and select the option to be on Fight Gone Belated! We’ll do our best to coordinate a make-up date with those athletes that can’t attend so you can still participate in the fun. You’ll still get to create a team name, participate in fundraising, and get a FGB t-shirt!
Why are we fundraising?
In the past, our annual FGB fundraiser has been a great way to bring our community together to support great charities—and we chose to support the Brooklyn Community Foundation because Brooklyn has been exceptionally good to us and we want to help give back to the community that CFSBK is proud to call home. If you’re not familiar with BCF, make sure you visit their website to check them out. Or if you’re lazy, at least check out their list of Grantees; we’re sure you’ll find one or two not far from you!
Will there be a fundraising minimum?
While we’d love for everyone to make wholehearted attempts to raise funds, there is no fundraising minimum to participate. However, as in years past, there will be some sweet prizes awarded to the top Individual and Team fundraisers!
Ok, you keep talking about fundraising but how should I do this and when should I begin?
Once our registration deadline ends on September 1, we’ll create teams consisting of six athletes. Shortly after, athletes will get an email from us with their team assignments and all of the details to set up their fundraising pages. We’ll be using Crowdrise as our fundraising platform again and participants will have individual fundraising pages that will be super easy to share with friends and family. (Check out last year’s main fundraising page HERE!)
Tell me more about the workout. What if I can’t do it Rx’d?
Here’s Coach Glassman explaining FGB in detail. And don’t worry, we have scaling options available!
So the day begins at 9am, but how long will it last? When will my team go?
The length of the event depends on how many total athletes/teams we have. We run three teams through the workout simultaneously and new heats start every 20 minutes. Unfortunately, we can’t tell you exactly what time your team will be going until we get closer to the event. Of course, we hope that you plan on spending a few hours with us, not only competing but also supporting your fellow teams. And per usual, we’ll have some tasty adult beverages to enjoy!
Ok, I’m sold. Where do I register?
Sign up here for Fight Gone Bad 2014!
Once registration closes after September 1, we send an email to request the following information: t-shirt size, your division (Rx or scaled), and whether you need to be on a Fight Gone Belated team.

6am with Melo and McDowell. I did Saturday's squat work: 3×5 @ 145. These felt like they were moving well and I have significant room to add weight. The WOD (4 rounds of 400m run, 15 deadlifts, 15 wallballs) was rougher than I expected. I did the deadlifts @ 135 and went unbroken; 8-7; 7-8; and 5-5-5. Each run felt longer and slower than the last one. I did the wallballs with a 16 lb ball and broke them up 9-6 until the last round which I did unbroken (thanks for the encouragement, all!). 19:41 total. It's been a while since I did a workout like this and it was humbling.

Friends I just got an email that VS Athletics Weightlifting shoes are on sale right now for $63 with code FIT14 until Sept 30 (that's down from $85 and probably the cheapest lifter out there). I've had a pair for a cycle and a half and I'm really happy with them.

In the grand tradition of scaled-up Fight Gone Bads, I'd like to propose a team that does a heavy version of the workout. Let me know if you'd like to join me. I'm thinking…
Wall-balls, 30lb, 10ft / 20lb, 9ft
Sumo deadlift high-pulls, 115/95 pounds
Box Jumps, 24" box
Push-presses, 115/95 pounds
Row (left the same)
Management, is this something we could do if we got a team together?

6am with McDowell and MeLo
BSQ 225x5x3
Not moving quite as fast as I would like at this point in the cycle. I probably started a little bit too high because I missed the first 3 exposures. No missed reps though. I'll miss exposure 7 so I may stick to 225 when I'm back for #8.
WOD 15:26 Rx. My legs were jelly even on the first run due to the squats, but I managed to keep all sets unbroken. I was pretty gassed after the wall balls. Happy with this time, though.
Off to SF for a few days so I'll be dropping in to CrossFit 650 in San Bruno, CA.

8 AM today!
What if I woke up early and did a work-out every morning…???
Lap, Warm up #2 x3.. pause c2b pull up practice seems to be paying off, still hate kettlebells (all of them)
HBBS solo.. 45×5, 95×5, 125×3, 145×2, 160×1, 170×1, 180×1, 170×1, 160×1 – hard but fine
Workout 4 RNDS — something like 18:13? felt slow, terrible and great at the same time
– 400m "Run"
– 15 DL (135# – 8/7; 8/7; 10/5; 10/5 — 15 seemed like a lot at this weight but the 10/5 split was good — glad I did this, thanks to McDowell & Fox)
– 15 WB (14#, 9' — 15; 10/5; 15; 5/5/5, couple no-reps)
Great vibes from everyone this morning 🙂 Such a nice way to start the day — Tho it feels like it's been 3 days and it's only noon…

Matt – While I would certainly fair better on a heavy version of FGB comparitively, my personal initial instinct is no. The logistics of running 200+ people through FGB (and each year gets bigger and better) make for a tightly scheduled day and we like to avoid too many variables, especially since this will be the first year we run 3 tracks/teams at a time. Instead of going heavier, just do more reps 😉

Matt – Follow DO's footsteps: weighted vest AND burpees during the rest period.

Hey, I left my lift shoes out at the gym near the Rogue racks. I'm a dope. They are ancient white Adidas. Noah A's hand-me-down special. (TY Noah! they keep on keeping on). If someone sees them at open gym and wants to drop in lost and found, that'd be neat. thx.
Noon class.
Worked to 315# for a single LBBSQ. Messier than I would have liked but whatev.
WOD was a slog. First run was fine, natch. But the other three sucked. I felt so, so slow. What's my problem? Partnered with Rickke who stagger started 2 minutes behind me. He nearly caught me, but not quite. I suppose I'll take that small victory. Finished in a miserable 16:35 rx'd.

Hello from Miami!
Just dropping in to say a few things. Signed up for FGB today! Can't wait. But I think I might've messed up. Not sure if I signed up for RX or not but that was my intention if I didn't.
DOWN for the art gallery…hope I can make it. Do we know around what date it would be?
Found a really great gym around my area. They're very mobility oriented and that makes me Happy! ill have to add it to the classifieds section later.
Was playing around with snatch balance last night.
Got up to 90# and it felt SO. Solid. I was pumped. Feels great to finally see my numbers sloooowly creep back to where they used to be…TGIF!
