Brooklyn Community Foundations Board Match!
“The Brooklyn Community Foundation Board of Directors is pleased to provide the first 1 to 1 match for FGB 2013! They are ready to help you blow through the fundraising goal. For every dollar that FGB teams raise between $15,000 to $30,000, the Board will match your team’s contribution dollar for dollar. So when your friend puts in $10, they will match it with their own $10. When they put in $100 they will match it with their own $100. Thank you for your passion for Brooklyn! Happy training!”

Hey gang! Hello from afar! First off the Fight Gone Bad names are not disappointing!! Cracking up over here! I hope you guys rock out the fundraising.
Workouts have been spotty but good over here. I mainly have to do body weight stuff in the hotel room after we are travelling around. Got to get on an erg yesterday with no feet straps which is forcing me to be better at concentrating on my form every stroke. This is a trick Nick does all the time and I can now highly recommend it!
I am still on a search for a squat rack. Sure do miss a heavy bar on my back! Came across this article on sleep and obesity on BBC news – thought it fit with the article theme today. Miss you guys!

MEL! We miss you!
Psst, MGMT, I think today's post got cut off (it looks like there was going to be some more advice to FGB captains than is there).
WOD: 24:12 with my Wonder Twin, and a special lesson in not being smug. As I was doing a round of box jumps, I started thinking to myself, "I'm doing these so quietly! Go, me!" Of course that was the moment at which I tripped and hit my knee on the box. Gloat AFTER the WOD, stoopid.

6am with NIck and MeLo. Did 30 reps in 48 seconds on the "pressure test". Felt good, though I banged my shin on one rep. Lightly grazed my crotch region during practice with a kettlebell. Let this be a warning: keep the kettlebell close, but not too close. Partnered with Isaac for the metcon. Rounds varied between 2:17 and 2:24, with the first round being the slowest and the last round being the fastest. Think our total time was around 20:30, though I could be misremembering.

Tomorrow's WOD in 21:15 with Reitus (and with apologies for what I assume is a gross misspelling), who went after that thing hard.
Catch-up post from yesterday: PR'd my snatch by 5 pounds, but I hadn't gotten within 10 pounds of my old PR in months so it felt like a bigger jump. HBBS is slowly starting to feel more organized at the bottom. Burpees in 1:57.

Did yesterday's workout –
Snatch – 88×2, 110×2, 132×2, 154×1, 165×1, 170(f), 170(f), 170×1 (5# PR)
Catches at the heavier weights were a challenge, but happy to get 170 finally. I feel pretty confident in my catch up to 154 but above that it starts getting a little funky.
HBBS – 135×5, 225×3, 275×1, 305×1, 315×1 (15# PR)
Expected to be around here based on my numbers this cycle. 315 was a little grindy.
Burpees in 2:01.

Community,
Just came out of Doctor (Metzel-hospital for special surgery) with a prognosis of "hip impingement"–take prescribed anti inflammatory and get squatting.
Gotta be honest, I don't want to squat under this kind of pain and discomfort. Looking for any 2nd opinion doctor recommendations.

@Gracie, if I were to get a second opinion on a Metzl opinion, I would still go to someone at HSS. I think they're the best. Full disclosure, I'm a total Metzl devotee. Currently exchanging emails with him on my ankle sprain!
I had serious hamstring/hip issues for a couple of years before going to him (issues arising from a partial hamstring tear) and when he told me to take anti-imflammatories for a week (some special Rx kind that were AMAZING and much better than my Aleve-doping) and to get a stronger butt, I thought, for real? He was totally right. Not that he's necessarily right re: you.

@RebeccaC
I'm a total Metzel fan as well, known him for 12+years and he's very close with my family. I'm just frustrated that I haven't been squatting for almost 2 months because of how badly it hurt and he gives me a pill and tells me to get back to it….I do trust him and his judgement but I want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

@Gracie — maybe consider Lenox Hill? My mom got a lot of recs for doctors there when she was having foot problems. If you want me to get more info, just let me know (rebecca.carvalho(at)gmail.com). Totally get it re: JM — if you're in pain, you need to keep asking questions! Good luck and feel better!

6am today with Nick and Melo
Fun times. got 25 sumo DLs in 60 seconds, far off my goal of 30 for my first FGB round (which would just be 50 seconds, really), which was sobering. I was lifting them way up past my nose, though, so pulling to my collarbone might help with that. I guess I'll be doing well to pull 25 of these in my first round…
WOD was fun: fastest round was 2:13 I think. After yesterday's squats and DIY sprints, my legs are ready for a break.

"All evening, they’d imagine my naked built body dripping with thick fondue cheese."
If I were Built…. My FGB team would be called Fondue Gone Bad…and I'd participate in FGB naked, with my built body dripping in thick Fondue cheese…
Just saying.

OG Session
Not feeling 100% today but decided to skip climbing this morning and go for a heavy snatch single at OG.
Snatch
95×3 115×2 135×1 145×1 155xF,F,1 165xF,F,F
First one at 165 I was under but hit the bottom too hard and knees came in/forward. After that the pulls were going nowhere, dropped to 115 and did 10min OTM Snatch/OHS, finished out with a set of 5 OHS on the last round.
Sots Press
75x5x3
Dumbell Curls (for fun!)
40x5x3
Then Conan! Better than I remembered. It's been way too long.
