Bethany is the subject of my favorite crossfit sbk moment of all time. It was at open gym over a year ago. It was super busy and Bethany walked in warmed up all business like and began to deadlift. A very normal set of circumstances. What at the time felt not so normal was the fact that she was like 8months pregnant. On one pull she let out a scream, and before I tuned, I had this immediate sense of holy shit "Bethany just gave birth". I was soo unnerved I had to go home. Bethany is the definition of a TFBA.

6am with Jess and McDowell. Press: 120×5, 140×5, 155×8. Stuck with the same weights as the last wendler cycle as my shoulders have been tight lately. Hit one more on the rep out today than I did on the previous cycle at this weight and the reps felt much better. Metcon Rx: 6 rounds + 6 PP. Hit 4 rounds right at the half-way point and then the push press started to break down. Serious T-Rex arms after this one.
Nice video of Bethany. I really need to find a way to watch a total at some point. And participate in one.

Squat 120×5, 140×5, 160×9, failed 10th rep. I know we're not really supposed to be failing but it's good to feel out exactly how much I can do with this Wendler stuff rather than my usual MO of being too conservative.
WOD 8:55 with 20# DBs. God, I hate doing that many situps!

Hit yesterday's 5:30 with MeLo and DO.
Linear progression on the press: 135×4, 132.5×5, 132.5×5
Too aggressive of a jump for the first set, and I wasn't totally locked down. Went for the dynamic press on the last rep and didn't commit, so I racked it without trying. I was best organized on the last set, and it felt the easiest of the three. Not sure what weight I'll try for next week.
WOD at 115lbs. — 5 full rounds. Felt good to (finally) scale a push press workout correctly. First four sets of push presses were unbroken, last set went in 5/2. I reracked after each instead of cycling, as it feels more organized.

I love the 220# deadlift frame with your boys in the foreground, and the culminating 250# PR kicked ass. Wish I could have been there. (I'm having a Mother's Day do-over today.. So far it's going great..)
Bethany features in one of my earliest cfsbk memories as well. In about my 2nd class I was maneuvering into a thick band for some pull ups over by the platforms. Bethany, possibly strength cycling, turned around and pulled the band down so I could climb in. It was then that I noticed her cfsbk logo emblazoned belly. Clearly I was in the right place!

just got my latest cholesterol results back. Triglycerides are down to 98 mg/dL, from 275 mg/dL in august 2012 and a high of 509 mg/dL in early 2010!

Upped training max by 5lb, one less on the repout than the first 5 week but fine with that, especially since my right arm was acting a little floppy today (slower to lock out here and on the push presses).

Definitely scaled this right, my wrists can only handle so much when re-racking from overhead.

Did Monday's workout. Was hesitant to go up 5# from last weeks press, but I decided to go for it. Man it was a struggle, but I'm really excited about it. Got 75# x 3×5.
Went for 85# on the WOD with jumping C2B pull ups. Got 5 rounds plus one push press.
Thought it was fitting that I was partnered with Alan the day Bethany's video was posted. One of my earliest CFSBk moments also involved Bethany in her super-pregnant stage. I was amazed at her strength and dedication to CrossFit. Still am ๐

My Bethany memory is mother's day related…it was back in the Lyceum. We did a partner WOD together–box jumps and KB swings. I was 8.5months pregnant and thinking I would probably stop coming to the gym after that weekend since I was 2.5 weeks from my due date. I gave birth to Linus that night. It's been so awesome to watch Bethany get stronger and more TFBA over the years, dare I say even more so now that she's a mama.
Oh, and Laurel–you will be back in major force, I have no doubt. We miss you!!

Oops, forgot to post my workout. Another 7am with Stella, fun to sneak into the later classes a few times lately. Reset Wendler at 235 theoretical 1RM:
(45×5, 95×5, 120×5) 140×5, 160×5, 180×10. Felt great.
Then, WOD from hell, 9:30 with 25# DBs. totally chased Stella. Totally failed to catch her.

1. I loved making and shooting the video, thanks for the kind words, everyone. I tried to get more than just the lifts themselves by filming the bits and pieces that happen in between. I think I was semi successful. Glad I decided to do it since I'd been avoiding shooting anything recently. Big thanks to Bethany for allowing me to do it with literally no notice before she started.
2. I'm in Boston today for Regionals. We had a long day on site going over the layout and seeing the AMAZING competition floor reebok built. It seriously looks like a mini home depot center. Then the ever glamorous part of making spread sheets for all the events and reading and re reading the manuals we get from HQ of all the logistics for each event. This year is going to be incredible!
