Congratulations go out to the Levavi Brothers who won their hockey championship! We also want to congratulate Charmel R. on completing his degree!
How do you describe CrossFit to your friends and family?
Jim says
Crossfit is the Ted Nugent of exercise. That’s all I have before coffee!

Good luck to David. You must have busted your clavicle pretty good to need a surgical repair. All those handstands might have helped you NOT land on your head.
Unrelated, I think the photo caption might make a good T-shirt.
“Will get make you strong!”

Good luck Dave and congrats to Charmel!

Swift recovery, DO.
Also want to say how exciting it was to witness the feats of strength that went on the other night during the Strength cycle’s CF Total. Wow. Great job by all, and kudos to Coach Jeremy. This guy will get you strong indeed!
Re: blog QWe are not your traditional gym, in the current sense of the word. We are more akin to physical culture gymnasiums of the past (pre-Nautilus). These are the things we do:Pick things up and sometimes throw them, run as if we were bein chased, press stuff both overhead and off our chests, pull ourselves up to things and sometimes climb them, roll around, stand on our hands, and lots of other things I may be forgetting. Sometimes we do all of it for an hour, or maybe just a few minutes. Oh, and we also love to eat lots of large and small animals together.
Made up the 11 min SR Pyramid this am2723m totalEasy enough to stick within the SR rangesTried to go 2:10 – 2:00 – 1:50 – 2:00 – 2:10 and for the most part was able to. Fun (kinda) piece.

Shane says
Jim,
Just come on in for class. We have classes on Saturday at 8, 9, 10, 11, 12. They’ll all be running the same WOD.
Sorry for the misinformation earlier this week. We will not be starting our strength cycle until MONDAY with Power Snatch. We’ll finish out back-off week this weekend with some fun stuff. Our first FSQ exposure will be on Wednesday.
Look forward to having you in class Jim!

Doesn’t look like I’ll be around much this weekend/coming week due to work and some new projects.
Since I’ll miss the first exposed to front squatting, am looking to stop by today by 6PM to get a jump on it by testing a 1RM (3 attempts as opposed to 5). Would be nice to have a recent baseline to compare with for when the front squat cycle ends.
If all goes well, will get down and dirty with Randy later (75x75lbs power snatches).
Shane, are you around today?
Margie says
I am running open gym 5:30-7:30.
Dan Rx'd says
Sorry Margie, that came out oddly in my rush to post before rushing to a meeting.

Shane, are you around today? I have your discs and want to get them back to you. If I don’t see you, do you want me to leave them at CFSBK?
Charlotte says
Did the bizarro partner WOD this noon with Mr. McGrath. Fun-ish times. Lengthy and wearying, this was. But exciting to see how much better at knees to elbows I have somehow magically gotten. Now can I just magically get a freestanding handstand and a muscleup?
Fox says
Charlotte- Poof! Voilà.
Congrats also to the Brothers Levavi!

Heal up Cult Leader David Osario. We need you.
PS. Only 7 days left in my book.

Front Squats: 225, 255, 275fRandy (75 power snatches @75lbs): 7:53
275 felt light coming out of the hole, then hit a sticking point. However, just did Elizabeth on Wednesday so those muscles are a little tired.
First time ever doing Randy, didn’t know what to expect. Around rep 50 I fatigued enough that the form got dialed in at a new level.
Felt so good! Really looking forward to a rematch. Thinking sub 5 on this and sub 3 on Grace.
Great to see so many familar faces (Andy!!), and rocking music selection tonight.

David Osorio says
Hi Everyone!!!
I’m back from a very long day at the hospital and a successful surgery. Turns out my clavicle was broken in 2 places with one floating segment which was slowly cutting a tendon. Pretty much it was an old fashion shit show in there. doc said if I didn’t get surgery i would never lift a weight with my left arm again.
So now I’ve got a metal plate wrapping around my clavicle and several pins holding it in. It already feels better in a very general sense, i don’t feel like theres broken glass in my shoulder anymore and getting up from laying down isn’t an anxiety causing experience anymore. I’m conservatively dosing pain killers (percocets) and have a follow up appointment on thursday. I’m actually feeling better than expected but that just might be the residual morphine and percocets. One interesting note is that the tip of my left middle finger feels like it’s in freezing water all the time. I think a nerve got impinged in the procedure, we’ll see what happens.
I’m really excited to start working again soon. I was overjoyed by spending Wed evening at the gym and seeing everyone’s smiling faces.
