AND it got jacked again. I give up. It won’t let me finish saying how much I love Asta:) !!!
Oh CFSBK how I adore thee & think of thee constantly thanks to the constant muscle pain I am in due to your brutal workouts and ass-kicking lifting.
But on a serious note: I cannot express how loved I feel today (& every day) thanks to the wonderful, supportive community that you all make happen. CFSBK has had a tremendous impact on my life in a multitude of ways. Not only am I the fittest I have ever been, but I have gained a type of confidence that only comes from feeling great physically and strong mentally. I want to thank everyone for allowing me to obnoxiously photograph, relentlessly tease and excitedly share in all the triumphs over the past 1 year, 5 months and 19 days (+/- a day or two, for serious).
So here’s to another great year, even if everyone has at one point or another unknowingly explained to me how much the 20’s suck and life doesn’t really begin until 30. Yeah, yeah… 😉
25! Check. Now, onto my quarter century crisis…
AND: IF YOU WANT TO COME CELEBRATE WITH ME – the party is Friday (May 28) at Larry Lawrence in W’Burg, 9pm until the tequila runs out…. Would love to see you all!
<3
Happy Birthday! aaahhh to be 25 again. Are you kidding me?! ENJOY!
YAY Asta, happy birthday.Go Foundations class of Jan 09!represent!
ALso, any people on the ‘larger size’ have any experience running in Nike Frees or something similar. I weigh a lot, but have been doing more and more running. Wanted to get out of these monster soles.
Happy Birthday Asta!

Happy happy birthday, Asta!! You can rent cars now!
Gabrus, I’d be happy to talk about running when you get a chance. I’d recommend something more minimalist (and cheaper) than Frees — thin-soled Pumas, your Chucks, etc. Check out http://www.posetech.com/runningshoes/how_to_choose_best_running_shoes_for_you.html and http://www.posetech.com/training/archives/000438.html.
My short answer is that I think someone of your size can run safely with minimalist shoes (and even barefoot). I’m over 200lbs., and I do. The reason I believe it’s possible is that, if you change your running style from the standard technique encouraged by souped-up running shoes to a technique that’s more bio-mechanically correct, you greatly reduce impact as an issue. If you land with your forefeet beneath your hips, on slightly bended knees, rather than reaching out with straight legs and landing on your heels, you use your soft tissue to absorb the (already reduced) impact.
Check out also this explanation of running technique: http://www.roadrunnersports.com/rrs/content/content.jsp?contentId=3200032.
NOTE: ANY CHANGE IN RUNNING TECHNIQUE MUST BE DONE SLOWLY. In any physical endeavor, even if one attempts to make a positive change in technique, one is prone to injury. It took me several months to make the switch.
Again, I’d be happy to talk to you about it, do some demo, and watch you. We can also do video if you’re interested.
happy HAPPY birthday ASTA! you super star you!
nick. i’d be psyched if i could talk to you about the running too. i think my leg is finally ready for it.
Go Asta, it’s your birthday! Hope it’s a great day! Looking forward to getting back to the box tomorrow.

Subbed Bench for pushups since I didnt have a spotter.
Started 1st rd with 50 DUs, but it took so long so went to 75 high jump singles.
Had to break pushups up. Hopefully this will be good practice for Murph on Monday.
Benched 135 x5, 135×4, 135×3
Then did about 8 cleans at 115–trying to work on form. I was watching Yoon do them so effortlessly so I tried to mimic his form a bit.
Cleans!
Warmup: 75×5 95x5x2Work: 125x3x5
Thanks Jeremy for the pointers
did the DL/DU 8 rounds every 3 minutes wod
85% of 200 (not my ultimate PR but i haven’t been dead lifting so this was a reasonable estimate) was 170 – it was heavy but for 3 reps, i could have gone heavier but was nervous about my back
rounds took::44, :37, :57, :43, :46, :58, :52, :37
on one of the rounds i strung all 35 DUs together which i believe is a PR. THANK YOU JESS for counting my first round and telling me i was done at 35 – i really thought the workout called for 50!!
heading to KEY WEST for a long weekend!!! sad to miss Murph but i’m traveling with a few fellow crossfitters so hopefully we can get some workouts in in between lounging and drinking!
He guys good job this past weekend!
