Spring 200m? Isn’t that unsafe? Where do I find a 200m long spring?
Jess says
I thought the same thing Sameer…ha!
Just finished baking super-non paleo desserts for later today!Wishing everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. For all of you out of town, safe travels!

The only man I know that probably can jump 200m is about to celebrate his birthday. Happy Birthday, Scott!

Give management a break guys, they’re just trying to wish us a “save” and happy holiday;)

Missed the warmup due to another bicyclist wondering “Yo man you ain’t got no shoes?” on the walk over. Oh well. If a two mile walk doesn’t warm me up, nothing will.
Happy T-gives, y’all.

Sprints: 31, 38,36… done
Back felt fine this morning so I went for the sprints… the track felt scarily slick under my shoes so I decided to go barefoot. 1st one was wonderful, but I didn’t get enough rest before the second one and couldn’t quite nerve myself up for the effort. The third one was better, more rest and more focus, but part way through I ripped my big toe open although I didn’t immediately notice – was too busy chanting “go go go” at myself.
I seem to be in a spate of hurting myself… at least my back is still feeling fine. I was remembering back to when I sprinted over the gravel alley behind our house as a kid and I didn’t think I would hurt myself on a nice smooth track. hmph.
Thanks for the bandaids Katie!
Happy Birthday Scott!
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
Scott says
Thanks for the birthday wishes.
I ran the Turkey Trot (5 miles) this morning in around 34:45. I was hoping to do it in around 33:30 but got held up at the start of the race behind a slower group. The first mile was more of a jog and it took me until mile 3 to get some room to run. I ran the last mile in about 6:15 (thankfully a 1/3 of it was downhill).

Oh! I got my first one wrong. That’s embarrassing! 33!
Laurel says
But the last one was 36, not 39… it must have gotten written down wrong.
Laurel says
P.s. I hate making a mistake on the blog that makes me look like I did better than I did. ICK! I remember the 33 now – I was recalling Vincent’s time as mine because I heard it and thought GO GO GO, catch the 31. I know the 36 is right though because I remember being pleased at being so much faster the third time through… I asked someone else to write it down and must have mumbled. Anyway sorry about that.

Greetings from Marin County (CA).
Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Birthday, Scott!
We are in San Rafael/San Anselmo so we did the “Thanksgiving Throwdown” with TJ’s Gym this morning. There’s no way to describe this WOD briefly, so bear with us!
About 30 athletes met on the track at Redwood High School. We were impressed that the ladies represent hard out here, outnumbering the guys! It was about 50 degrees out and we were surrounded by beautiful mountains. In assigned teams of 5 or 6, we rotated around the corners of the field where every team member did 1 of 5 different exercises.
We had to complete 2 rounds of the following:
50 DUs (or 100 singles)*50 Kettlebell swings50 Situps50 Air Squats25 Burpees
*When we finished the DU’s we were supposed to do some extra burpees until the rest of the team was ready to rotate. (We carried our ropes and kettlebells from station to station.)
PLUS…1) When moving from one short corner of the field to another, we had to stop at the football goalpost and each do 25 Wallball shots, hitting the bottom of the post. (10 ft.)
2) When moving from one long corner of the field to another, one team member’s feet couldn’t touch the ground so they had to be carried or wheelbarrowed the length of the field. Ok, I (Becca) got lucky on this one…I was the carry-ee!
There was also one lap around the track for good measure at the end of the WOD. The fastest team finished in about 38 minutes. I’m not sure what my team finished in, but this was around a 40 minute metcon, people!
This was fun and we feel that we’ve earned our turkey! TJ and his wife have 3 local CF boxes. We will probably go to a “regular” workout tomorrow and Saturday and report back. Overall, this was a cool group to workout with.
P.S. As I told one of the coaches, burpees still suck even in the beautiful NorCal mountains.

Really fun to have a good number of folks come out this morning. Thanks Fox for organizing and coaching us. Thanks Katie for posting our times. Today again confirmed that I am not a sprinter. I’m used to the slower paced distance running which I know means that I just need to do sprints more often.
Oh and my last two rounds were also barefoot! A little weird but fun. Will definitely try again…but not on sprints.
Jess says
Sorry two more things:-Happy birthday Scott! That was a great time on the race regardless of being stuck behind a slow crowd.-Becca&Paulie–that sounds like a fun/killer of a wod. I love the “no feet touching” component!
