Laurel and Cloyde get some Foam Roller love
At 5:30pm on Friday we're going to meet to set up the gym for Fight Gone Bad. If you're available to lend a hand please let me know in the comments section. We'll need to move some mats, set up the equipment and make sure things are ready to go for Saturday. I don't predict it taking longer than about an hour.
We also could use some other general volunteers for FGB on Saturday to help run scores and register all the athletes. Please email David(at)CrossFitSouthBrooklyn.com
So far we've got Paul C, Brandy M and Malcolm S helping out. Who else is in???

All work and no bouldering will, for tonight, make me a dull boy.
stephanie says
i can come help out on friday
tam says
I missing out on all fun mentioned here.
(wistful, wistful sigh…)
Malcolm says
To answer Shane’s question, my tooth is feeling better. No pain killers today. About the only thing that hurts now exertion. Any rise in blood pressure seems to be matched to an equal rise in pain.
I will definitely be back in the gym tomorrow, I may or may not be doing anything.
Bjorn says
I can help with scoring on Saturday, won’t be able to help Fri.

I taught some high school students to back squat today. I’ve definitely learned some things from David, Shane and Jeremy that have made me a better teacher of the movement. I’m not quite sure which drills and cues I’ve learned from you guys, and which I used before, but it was most successful squat introduction I’ve given. Most of them ended up doing some good looking squats. Not a bad start for a group of adolescent recent immigrants and refugees, some of whom speak no English, none of whom have ever had a bar on their shoulders. Of course there is always the one kid with zero body awareness who is emotionally incapable of accepting the slightest correction. And this is always the same kid whose big brother told him to drink muscle milk and wants to know why we aren’t using the curl bar.
Afterward:
Back Squat 1-1-1-1-1-1-1
255,275,285,295,305pr,310f,310f
The first try at 310 was very, very close. Next time for sure.
Then SDHP 75# 2 sets of 20, 8 sets of 10 focusing on maintaining hip explosiveness and a straight bar path.

Also, I’ve been wanting to join in the Tuesday night Brooklyn Boulders fun since its inception, but have been foiled by an improbable string of unrelated responsibilities. Next week I hope.

“an improbable string of unrelated responsibilities”: kind of feels like the story of my life …

Shane says
I’m hoping to go again next Tuesday Ben and looking forward to having you join us one of these times.
