CrossFit South Brooklyn Affiliate Team
Sameer and Dan have volunteered to organize any athletes interested in competing for the Affiliate Cup at this year's CrossFit Games in Aromas, CA.
Here are some logistics they've worked out already:
– Everyone competing at the qualifiers can be on the team if they don't qualify
– We'll hold a vote for the remaining slots
– The teams officially consists of 3 men and 3 women
– Sameer has kindly already registered CFSBK, so don't worry that the Affiliate Registration is already Sold Out
If you're interested in being on the team, please email Sameer(AT)creativedestruction.com
Weather Nerds Rejoice!
You guys may have noticed the temperature and humidity information we've been adding to the daily posts. This is thanks to Anne's generous donation of an indoor weather gauge so that we can track what the conditions in the Lyceum are. It will be interesting to track performance as the temperature goes UP over the next couple months. Thanks Anne!
Happy Birthday, Charmel!!

David, you mentioned not running on days off. But what about swimming/biking/running on the day you do a WOD but several hours before.
The CFE site mentions doing it a couple of hours after a WOD. But since we workout in the evening, could we go earlier in the day on a wed or something, or is that still considered over-training?
Andy says
Best wishes to Charmel!

David Mak, those Eggs are amazing. Really good deep color and flavor.
Does anyone want to start a double unders challenge. I have been trying to think up variants. Two that occur to me are:
A) 50 Days, each day you do one more double under than the previous starting at one. (Upside is that you can always finish in a finite amount of time compared to)
B) Consecutive Double Unders. Set some goal path, I.e. 5,10,15,20,30,40,50. For consecutive double unders. At first you are trying to get to 5 double unders consecutively, if you cannot do it you just make sure you do double the number of non-consecutive. Repeat this on any goal number until it has been achieved and then go on to the next goal.
The second version seems like it may be better for getting consecutive down rather than just doing more singles. Thoughts?
Margie says
Happy Birthday to Charmel and belated to Richard and Liane!!
Gabrus, two workouts in a day is manageable if you work up to it, are properly feeding yourself and getting good recovery.
High volume training generally comes into play after solid capacity has been built, otherwise you will very quickly fall into the overtraining category.
Malcolm, since DUs are skill rather than strength based, I think you’ll find more option B to be more useful.

Malcolm — I’m definitely interested in some sort of a double under challenge. I need some extra motivation to get them down, I just need to get a jump rope for home. I like your first idea better as I am squarely in the novice category and the idea of stringing them together right of the bat is daunting. Let’s discuss.
Sameer Parekh says
I like option B… it’s okay to not be able to string them together just yet, because if you can’t string them together, your are committing to doing 10 dus per day until you can string together 5. That’s not so bad. THen you are committing to doing 20 dus per day until you can string together 10…
i need to get a rope too. what’s the word on good ropes?
So either all the SBK men are too busy working (? yeah fat chance.) or they are all pussies. So far it looks like we will end up with an all-women team. step up.
David McG says
Dan was looking at trying to get discount on buddy lee’s. we need to order 10 ropes to get discount. Dan is that correct?
Charmel says
Thanks everyone for the B-day love. I miss all of you. I’ll be back soon.

Chris and I did the Prospect Park Tabata… sit-ups, push-ups, squats and dots. No rest for the wicked.282 & 284. Following squats w/ dots rimes nicely but is unwise.
Dan R says
David McG — that’s correct. If we order 10 ropes, we get a 10% discount. I’m working on getting the shipping waived as well…
Any takers?

I am in for a rope, thanks.
Bjorn says
I’d like a rope as well, please!
Anne says
I’d like a rope, too!Are there different lengths?
Dan L says
I’m in for a rope too. Thanks
David McG says
DanR i’m in for a rope.
Erik K. says
I could use a new rope, but I’d want at least 3 replacement cords (I already have one set of cordless rope handles that need to be brought back to life).
I’d actually recommend a replacement cords for anyone ordering a rope, as they do break and the cords are a lot cheaper then the whole rope set.
gabrus says
i could go for a rope.
David Makowski says
Count me in for a rope as well. What are the length options?
