Today’s WOD is in honor of Coach Jacinto’s 69th Birthday. Apparently he wants nothing more than to inflict a great deal of pain onto the South Brooklyn crew. Let’s see what everyone is made of.

my time 44:19I used to like you Jacinto. My legs still don’t want to work right.

32 minutes.
i am astonished at what i witnessed today. it was like watching a main site video of some crossfit die-hard doing fran in 2 minutes, except it was in person, and it was Jacinto destroying this workout. every time i looked around (probably too much looking) he was moving and knocking out the reps. i cannot believe that you are 69.
on the way home i was comparing you to Percy Cerutty. Cerutty was an australian running coach in the 50’s. at 44 he had terrible migraines and doctors gave him 2 years to live, so he took up competitive running. he became such an accomplished athlete that younger athletes would seek him out for training. he trained John Landy and Herb Elliot, who were some of the pioneers of the sub-4 minute milers, and he had them lifting weights and sprinting up sand-hills!
but Jacinto, you are a monster compared to that guy. thank you for the inspiration and the coaching, which helps all of us become better athletes.

Rough, I hate (love) those runs at the end of a workout like this and murph.
Happy birthday Jacinto!
jacinto says
I want to take this time to thank each and everyone of you.for your support and thank you for running with me that was a hard run for me.I don’t think I could have done it without you all.
Erik K. says
42:46That WOD has left me feeling wrecked. So awesome.Jacinto, you’re such a great athlete, it’s always a pleasure to work out with you. I hope you have a great birthday and I look forward to next years WOD… with fear.
Andy says
I’m in the happy position of meeting (due to the nature of my business) a lot of interesting and fascinating people and I consider my encounter with Jacinto one of the most inspiring I’ve ever had. Happy birthday!
Margie says
I have to echo everyone’s birthday wishes for, and incredible admiration of you Jacinto. It is invaluable to be in your presence as a coach and a fellow athlete. Thank you for your commitment to us and to yourself.
1RM test for BSQ and PressBSQ – 154 (PR)Press – 75 (previous PR 76)I was feeling very weak today for some reason. Disappointed about the press, but at least the BSQ is up a little.

Shane says
Happy Birthday Jacinto!
What a guy, it’s YOUR birthday and you give US a gift. I had a great time this evening and am honored to take part in your 69th Birthday WOD. Already anticipating next year’s!
38:38-16kg KB on the swings.
Have a safe and wonderful trip out to the games. Thank you for everything you bring to CFSBK and the Crossfit Community at large.
PS-I showed my dad the blog with your pic and the rundown of the WOD (who just started CFing at 57 years old, two years out from quadruple bypass surgery). He said he hopes to look like you by 57 and 1/2. I told him that your level of fitness is a testament to a lifetime of dedication and hard work which is more impressive than any one WOD or feat of strength. It is great to have you back in top form. Your wealth of experience and kick ass attitude have proven invaluable to CFSBK.Looking forward to many, many more workouts!
Shane

Hola Jacinto! Have the best birthday ever and a wonderful time at the games. You probably don’t think much of it, because you’re just being yourself, but you’re so inspiring. Your spirit is infectious, thanks so much.

Jeremy, saw you in the journal, you rocked. We all know about your dl prowess, but you were looking great on those burpees too. Have fun in Cali.
I’m in for the run. See ya’ll there…

Jacinto that was such a great WOD! Your last nine deadlifts were amazing. it was such a great time and perfect to celebrate such a great person.
Happy Birthday!
Kent says
Happy Birtday Jacinto!
Max says
Happy birthday Jacinto! I’ll do this workout tonight to share the “love”.
Chris H says
That was awesome. Just got back from Oregon, where I was giving my dad shit as his 65th birthday is coming up. Though he plays handball three times a week and looks and feels great, it’s inspiring to know that, at 69, like Jacinto, he still has the capacity to kick some serious ass. A motivation for us all, and as long as we all have access to some running shoes, some free weights and a pullup bar, there’s no reason to doubt we can all kick ass like that at 69 too.
33:05. Unbroken high rep pullups hate me. Second run sucked. I’m getting good at DL’s.
Also: was thinking as we did Murph right at the beginning of the Summer, it may be fun to do it right at the end and compare times. Labor Day maybe?
Adam says
Wow, that’s a workout that keeps on hurting. I feel worse now than I did last night.
jacinto says
Good news,Last nigth my time was 49:33 this morning with the black box crew. my time 47:09 beat my own time.this is to let you know that your body could take more then you could ever give it.just when you feel like taking a rest, say to yourself “just one more” and get it done.
Erik K. says
wait, you did it again Jacinto?that’s crazyamazing, but completely loco
Michele says
Happy Birthday Jacinto!!! You are an animal! I can’t believe you did that WOD again…you are an inspiration to everyone at CFSBK!!!
Anyone have interest in going to a CF KettleBell Cert?
Michele says
The closest KB cert is in Allentown PA Aug 2nd & 3rd…
John B. says
Jacinto – Happy Birthday, my friend. I wish that I could have been there for this workout. Actually, no, I don’t.
I hope everyone is doing well. Fire Academy Week #1 – DONE. 22 to go…
CrossFit will definitely be put on the side for a bit. Although, I do plan to stop by at some point. Maybe I can hand out water or yell “3,2,1,GO!”
Charmel says
Inspired by Jacinto’s 2nd performance this morning, I got off my duff and did a variation on the “vertigo” workout that I found on an affiliate site -20 pushups:1 sit up, 19:2, 18:3, until 1 pushup:20 situps
37:23
flexibility work, squats, pistol work tossed in the mix as well
Max says
Jacinto, my legs officially do not like you.
16# wallball35# kettlebell (dumbbell)95# deadlift
WOD time: 37:20
hill says
Jacinto, that WOD was out-of-bounds insane… it’s been so long since I’ve run any kind of distance, so I was seriously hurting after the first run around the block! My time: 38:02, definitely & absolutely not as Rxed.(but funny since i was doing 38 reps instead of the 69.but next year, i’ll do the 70!)thanks for all & everything…
Shane says
michele,
i definitely am interested in doing a KB cert and i’d be down to attend the one in allentown but i won’t be getting back from california until midnight the night before. i say all this because i’m toying with the idea of going
Margie says
Uh, Shane – you’ll be in Boston doing an oly seminar that weekend.
Who am I? Your personal assistant?
Margie says
Oh whoops – that’s the next weekend! Sorry.
heh.
