Open Intramural Team Rankings: Week 2
18.2 really shook things up in the CFSBK Open Intramural League this week, making competitive exercise fans within a 3 mile or so radius gasp with surprise, jump for joy, startle their pets, and other stuff we can’t mention on this family-oriented blog. The big story this week: propelled in part by high rankings of Erika M. and Morgan N., Kippin’ It Real went from 4th to 1st place. But don’t stop kippin’, guys, because Make America Blue Again is just 0.2 points behind you! The pack remains close, as our top 3 teams are separated by just 2 points.
50 Shades of Gainz scratched, whipped, handcuffed, and probably did other stuff we can’t mention on this family blog to pull into 4th place. Going into 18.3, they’re just 1 point out of the top 3. Can they dominate (get it? sorry.) the competition to make it happen? The answer will start to become clear tonight at Friday Night Lights!
Current Ranking – Team – Overall Average
1. Kippin’ It Real: 36.3
2. Make America Blue Again: 36.5
3. Amino Disrespect: 38.3
4. 50 Shades of Gainz: 39
5. Going Dark: 40.4
6. The Incredible Hulks: 42.6
Team CFSBK is currently ranked 36th in the North East Region. Way to go, gang! Check out our full affiliate leaderboard here!

Oh friends I miss you.
I have not been feeling good. Depressed and not really able to do anything but work and sleep. At least it’s been my busy season because I can spend as much time there as I want because most days its all I can do. I have really tried to get back to the gym, even showed up for a couple of classes, because I know how much working out can help, but I haven’t been able to stay. Which begets more not working out which begets more not feeling good, of course. But my busy season ends at the end of this month, and I’m nervous about having all that extra time. So I am setting an intention now to come back in April. It feels not in my control but I just have to do it. I am announcing this to hold myself accountable. To say, enough, Ariel, you’ve got to do at least this much.
Starting small. I’ve been getting cramps in my legs and realized yesterday I’m dehydrated. So today my self care goal is to drink more water. But in April. I’m coming back. Grateful for being part of the front desk crew, which has allowed me to continue to feel like a member of this community even when I haven’t been to classes, and so feel like it’s ok to share this.

Ariel!!! I’ve been thinking about you. So glad to hear from you and can’t wait for you to come back. I’m also so proud to be part of a community where people can genuinely and honestly share their sincere thoughts and it’s not seen as taboo.
Depression is a BITCH! I’ve recently had some experiences (luckily that have not lasted more than a couple days) that have woke me up to depression’s totally insane grasp— so out of control of your emotional state, not yourself at all but unable to find yourself in your body. It’s really astounding and completely bizarre, as someone who has never had those experiences before this year.
I vote for just showing up and letting someone know you’re not feeling great and then clinging to their side during the workout— I volunteer if I’m there! When I’ve cried to a friend and said “I just don’t feel like myself” before the workout, I’ve been able to get through it by at least doing something! (Better than being in bed)
Everything might feel hard and you might want to berate yourself for various reasons…but if you make a plan for a *very* scaled workout— for example, “I’m going to just clean a PVC pipe during the workout” instead of using a barbell with weight— you know you are capable of more but you’re literally just there for mental health rather than physical health. It will also reaquaint yourself with the gym and refire that place in your brain that loves it so much. You might surprise yourself too, which would be a nice little boost of endorphins. And, you know you’re not even attempting to compete with anyone you’re scaling so drastically, so there’s literally no pressure.
Anyway, I feel so much for you. I hope you can force the body to make it to the gym for a bunch of hugs and love. Thanks for sharing!

Colletti,
It’s time, you obviously have to come back to train Sasha. If you won’t do it for yourself, at least do it for her 😉
Miss you!

7am w/ JB doing Thurs
Power snatch + push jerk: 83×3, 88×3, 93×3, 98×3, 103×3. Great cues from JB on lowering elbows after the clean/before the jerk. Really helped!
Messed around with some handstand walking and then JB showed me some good drills for ring transitions. (As if I actually have a chance at a ring muscle-up tomorrow. It’s a nice thought, anyway!)
Ariel! Pick a day/time in April and I’ll meet you there. <3 <3

Excellent, I’m in Jay-Star’s heat. Means he can’t judge me.

You have underestimated Jay-Star. You will pay dearly, dear.

10am with Whit doing the open workout
Decided to start Rx to at least get a better score that will help Make America Blue Again. Goal was to try to get 30 DUs (which I don’t really have yet but can get a few here and there) in first 7 min; I got 50 at the 7:39 mark and then called it a day on that. Officially counted those reps and then switched to scaled to do 50 more SU, 20 OHS, 100 SU, 12 jumping chin over bar pull ups (from a stool), 100 SU, and 5 dumbbell snatches. So much to work on but also suprised myself with a few more doubles than expected.
Yesterday, 5:30 with Lauren and Whit. Worked up to 68# for the power clean+push jerk triples, which felt heavier and more awkward than it should have. Good handstand drills and continued awe at everyone else after.
K HarpZ says
yesss!!! nice work!

Now I know why I like to do these Open workouts early on Friday. Nervous eating alllllll day. I’m going to scale this evening and just have as much fun as my lung capacity will allow.
On Sunday I’ll do as many DUs as I can in 17 mins and then see if I can get an 80lb OHS in the time remaining. I guess it will be my new revised version of 18.2!
