I had an insanely fun time yesterday with Brooklyn Boulders! Get in on this afternoon's if you can. I had never rock climbed in my life, and when I got to the end of my first "problem" and touched the tape at the top, I started swearing 'cause I couldn't believe how amazing it felt. Seriously good workout, too! Thanks Mare for organizing and I hope we can build many more bridges to our wacky neighbors on Degraw.

Kipping pullups and I are like a dysfunctional couple that gets together ever so briefly, then breaks up, then gets back together, then breaks up again. So I'm really glad the workshop happened again this weekend. I've taken it twice already, PLUS private instruction, and I STILL couldn't manage to get them consistently. For a while I could string two or three together, and then I lost even that because I didn't practice them consistently enough.
So when I came to the beginners' workshop, Noah was, all, "Haven't we done this before?" Yes. Yes, Noah, we have. I'm just in remedial school for anything that involves coordination.
Something clicked today, though, and I was able to get back to 2s and 3s by the end of class! Woo! Now I just have to, you know, keep doing them. I think I'm going to sub kipping practice for strict pullups in morning warmups, so that my practicing doesn't get sabotaged by having to run off to work.
Really fun to do this with my bro Serene. MGMT — can we have the workshop more often? Serene and I were discussing afterward that we wish there were more opportunities to learn the basics of the movement — I know it's not easy to fit teaching it into group classes where there's such a variety of strength levels and not everyone's ready for it yet. But I bet there are a lot of people who are on the verge of being able to do this movement and just can't figure out how on their own. It would be awesome if the kip workshop happened every 3 months or so, no?
