Reminder that we are ONLY running 8 and 9am classes today. Starting at 11:00am we will be hosting some of the city’s best CrossFitters as they take on 13.5 at CFSBK. All are welcome to cheer on your fellow CFSBKers and remember to wear your black skull and crossbones tee! (BLACK SEA!!!!!)
13.5 Competition and After Party Today
Come for the WOD and stay for the beer (and sausage!). Starting at 11 we’ll be running heats of 13.5 for the invitational until about 12:30. Afterwards everyone is invited to Die Koelner Bierhalle!
Complete as many rounds and reps as possible in 4 minutes of:
100/65 pound Thruster, 15 reps
15 Chest to bar Pull-ups
If 90 reps (3 rounds) are completed in under 4 minutes, time extends to 8 minutes.
If 180 reps (6 rounds) are completed in under 8 minutes, time extends to 12 minutes.
If 270 reps (9 rounds) are completed in under 12 minutes, time extends to 16 minutes.
Etc.

Traveling to CFSBK?
If you’re coming to CFSBK for the first time, you might consider the following:
Parking: Look for parking on Degraw street and in the avenues and side streets around 4th avenue. Everything above 4th ave is residential and trickier to find parking in.
Subway: The closest Subway would be taking the R to “Union Street” or 2 3 4 5 B D N R or Q to Atlantic Ave. Check us out on Google Maps here

Good to get in and press after my depressing 13.5 attempt at open gym.
Press: 45×5, 95×5, 135×3, 160×3, 165×3.
I was gonna call it at 160 since I barely got it, but with 5 minutes left I took a shot at 165 and barely got it. The left side was lagging hard on the last rep but I got it locked out with a fight.
WOD: Had 9 burpee box jumps left when the cap ran out, I started on kb swings. I did it rx'd with American swings. I could have finished if I did Russians but that feels like taking the easy way out. KB swings were all unbroken, the bell felt light. BBJs were pretty steady but slow.
It was good to have class with DO for the first time in a while and his impressive attention to detail.
13.5 at OG last night was a fail. I did the 15 set of thrusters no problem and good. But doing them in the correct rack position for once bothered my wrists and after about the 7th chest to bars I was missing the bar and couldn't get my chest up there. 3 or 4 no reps. Luca, you're supposed to be my bro. I resorted to some chin ups and finally got through the round in time for 7 more thrusters. 37. Lame. On the bright side thrusters are much easier in the rack position. I must improve my kipping skills.

Here's an interesting counter-question: if you could choose one sport/physical discipline you could have started in at a young age what would you pick. For me, gymnastics.

Any grip is allowed for 13.5. Also Jerks are acceptable as well.
