Congrats to all participants! Great work SBK! Wish I could have stayed longer.
Big congrats to Gabrus! Wonderful news.
@Laurel, thanks for the phone call! Had I gotten it I would have been there in a heartbeat.

My 2nd time with Barbara, first time rx’d.
r1–5:36r2–6:11r3–6:27r4–8:26r5–7:51Total–46:31
All situps and squats unbroken. Pullups were good until round 4. My hands just did not want to touch the bar. Pushups are always the timesuck. Need to practice these more!
Overall, happy with this and my time is significantly better than when I did this (modified) in December.

1st time at Barbara in a long time (notebook says last time I tried to do it was last September, the morning after I got the job offer to move up here… only got through 3 ugly rds that day)scaled down to 10-20-30-40 w/ the 10 “pull-ups” being some strict, some ring rows.r1–4:53r2–4:40r3–4:03r4–5:25r5–5:25total–38:26Gotta work on push-ups and pull-ups.
and yesterday I PR’ed on snatch and jerk. I C&Jed 143 after the competition to see if i could–switched back to push jerk cause it still feels more stable, but I’m certainly more comfortable with the movement than i used to be.

DFL. Ugh.

this. destroyed. me.
was about to meet pukey after round 3 so slowed down just to get through it. methinks broken sleep for who knows how long is taking it’s toll.

pull ups after 2nd round hard to string together. singles .push ups went to shit quicker than i thought they would.sit ups were slower.squats felt better.

My first ever Babs. Subbed 10 strict chin-ups for the pull-ups. Came out of the gate fast, and then crashed badly.

Pushups and situps both slowed me down a lot. Only the squats were unbroken. At one point, somewhere between the 3rd and 4th rounds, I honestly thought I was going to hurl, which would have been a (dubious) first.

Going to have to wait until tomorrow or Tuesday to do this one, my body is refusing to do anything strenuous after Christine on Thursday, and the C&J/Snatch yesterday. Plus after the BBQ yesterday, AJ and I decided to race 2000m on the rowers just to get our names on the leader boards. Ha! I set a new PR though (thanks for the coaching, Chris), doing the 2km row in 7:07. AJ PR’d too!
So great to hang out with all of you guys yesterday, I’ve been having a blast since joining CFSBK!! Looking forward to the next WOD.

I don’t know which women these workouts are named after, but man oh man, they must be TERRIBLE BITCHES.
First time, 4 rds w/ring rows and modified push-ups that fell to shit in round 2 when my right arm decided to try to do all the work.
Total time: 34:29
Post gym shower featured the heaviest bar of soap EVER. Very hard to lift.

40:46 (I think) RXed. push ups were the weakness. almost lost my breakfast. no flappers this time which I’m pleased about. been holding the bar hard as per Shane which is helping.

Fun being here to see some people have their first date with barbara.
last night malcolm and i did a tabata hot/cold plunge. The hot water was about 109 degrees and the cold was 58, i think.

Shout out to everyone who showed up to do this workout, despite it being posted on the website… 😉
Bjorn – I accept your speed ice cream eating challenge! Is it 1 pint for time? Let’s discuss specifics and get this started before our ice cream eating skills atrophy.
As for today’s Work Out:1 Mile warm-up run to CFSBK, sub 8 minutes.Barbara Rx’d: 34:42 (pr)Last date was: 40:40Didn’t take a photo of the round break downs, but the first two were sub 3. Pushups got me by the third round, where it went to singles. A stitch formed going into round 5, and a moment during the situps where I became light headed and had to pause, but otherwise was a good experience.
Very happy with this time, but even more happy with my recovery afterwards. Went for a walk immediately afterwards, refueled, and returned refresh and exciting to cheer other folks on!
Before leaving for the day, did RROM HSPU: 34 unbroken reps with 3 abmats.
General Status:slept sub 5 hours, unhappy about this.didn’t eat prior to class, unhappy about this especially since lunch at Palo Santo was suckage.Horrible pain in my right shoulder/neck — couldn’t turn my head to the right more than 45 degrees when I woke up. Still a little uncomfortable.Feet feel good despite the additional mileage.Current weight: 172lbs.

51:02 Total. Lost all energy after round 2. Push-Ups were biggest weakness. Need to work on them and upper body strength.

I was going to post about how my tragic workout today was an embarassment to myself and a stain on the theory and practice of crossfit, but then I read all these posts and had to admit my suffering this afternoon paled in comparison.
“Shorter, fatter Fran”
5 rounds for time:
5 squat clean thrusters – 43 lbs10 chest-to-bar pullups (picked the wrong band so scaled to 7)
12:25 of atrocious form and metaphysical angst.

2nd Barbara. 1st rx’d. 44:16. Felt pretty good thru 3 rounds. During the 4th, my arms started shaking. Almost stopped there, but pushed thru for the 5th round. It’s almost 5 hours since I finished, and i still feel it
Matt U. says
My 2nd Barbara. First time was RX’d, but that was with two pectorals.
Today: 4 rounds in 32:30. Push-ups were elevated and I substituted ring rows for pull-ups. My sit-ups have improved dramatically since December; squats have not.
Maldonado says
Sorry to have missed Barbara. Killer heat in Chicago for 1/2 marathon. 85 degrees. 2:01:12. Off my time by 5, but survived without injury.

i feel pretty good about my time considering that i have been sucking lately, let’s see how it stacks up

considerably worse, but not horribly worse. my situps totally died in the 3rd round that’s what got me, subsequent rounds i was faster on the situps, which i think is what saved me to go sub-8 for the last two rounds.
i tried to avoid pukie. im sure that slowed me down too.
i thought i had successfully avoided pukie as the workout was done, but i felt like death. my head was going to explode. i went to the bathroom and had my date with pukie, and then all felt better.
Bjorn says
Barbara, very scaled: 39:18(6:35, 4:50, 5:21, 5:10, 5:20)
Ring rows, angled push-ups, anchored sit-ups and after round 1 Fox told me to scale back to 10-20-30-40, THANK GOD. The bodyweight stuff is my absolute weakness, I should probably start doing Barbara once a week.
Dan – ice cream eating challenge? Really?
