Come on down today for our annual, "JacintoStorm" WOD in honor of Jacinto's Birthday. We'll open up at 9am and start sending off heats of folks by 9:30. If you'd like to participate in the WOD, please arrive before 10:15am. As always multiple scaling options will be available so everyone can participate. Afterward, we'll have a paleo-style potluck and BBQ. Side dishes and beverages are appreciated!

*random thought*you know that part of the Biggest Loser at the beginning of each season where they take the contestants to the doctor to measure their “real age” versus their chronological age– and you get that moment where the 23 year old learns that he is really 112 in terms of his overall health? Yeah. i think we need to do that in reverse with Jacinto, cause each year this gets more daunting. If we did Jacinto’s real age numbers we’d only have to do 20 of each of these which would be much more realistic. 🙂
Happy birthday, Jacinto!!!

Hey – What’s the new strength cycle that starts tomorrow?

My first Storm. 44:47 as rx’d.
Pushups were slow like usual. Pullups hurt. Began to tear in my usual spots then switched my grip. Tore there too. Wallballs were ok surprisingly. Kb swings all overhead. Deadlifts should have been cake, but my back was still sore from the other day’s dl wod. After 20 unbroken, moved on to sets of 5ish. The last run was the worst. My back tightened up so bad and had to walk a bunch the first half. Thanks Samir for the running support and thanks to Laurel for yelling behind me!
I’m beyond impressed by Jacinto. What an amazing man. My favorite part of the day was running that last lap as a group with him.
Thanks Jacinto and CFSBK for an amazing day!
Nino says
Oh yeah, backoff week – I forgot. Thanks, Chris!

Happy 71st Jacinto!

The wheels reallly fell off on wall balls. 20# is testing my upper limit. I think I need to buy one and practice at home.
Kids had a blast playing dodge ball. Thank you coaches for supporting that.
Cool down with the Fox family at Double D pool was a hit too!
Thank you Margie, Jim, Jeremy, and everyone else who helped with the food. Your efforts really showed and the meal was super good!

Jacinto Stormlet 29:15 = Jacinto Storm – squats and wallball. My hip is handling the lifting, but I find that high rep squatting movements are too sloppy and knock me back on my recovery.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACINTO!! It was great to see you, do this work out in honor of you and join you on your final lap. You are remarkable and I find myself frequently referring to your fitness in discussions with people wondering about doing intense workouts at “their age” when their age is ~55. They might believe that I am exaggerating, but are still moved by what you do. It is something to be proud of, your strength and intensity, but also the fact that you inspire all of us, even those who have not personally met you.

My first storm (last year at this time Linus’s arrival was one week away!) 43:22 as Rx’d (I think?) I’ll check the white board later today. That second run was brutal for me–all the posterior chain stuff really tightened up my lower back, and like Jess I found myself walking.Pullups took the longest, wall ball was the hardest. When I was at about 40 pullups and the end was NOWHERE in sight, I thought about scaling…and then thought of Jacinto, and how I would feel if I were 71 and this were my birthday. I’d do the @*$(% pullups. Just like he did. Sir, it was an honor to watch you beast it out yesterday. Happy Birthday.
Michele says
Jacinto, it was our privilege to train with you yesterday. Happy birthday and many more.

Happy birthday, Jacinto! I’m already looking forward to the next Storm.
It was so great to see everyone again. Had a lot of fun yesterday and I will try to stop by more often.

Not one part of my body is not sore.
Ive hit it hard the past 4 days since I got back from Cali–so now I gotta take a 1-2 day break.
Ouch.
43:44 as RX’d I felt like i did this slow, but am happy with my time.
I took A LOT of rest.
1st run was a breeze, squats were relatively easy. Took 2-3 quick pause breaks.
Pushups-ripped out 15 and then 10 then as many as I could get in. Didnt rest much here.
Pullups- My 1st time resting a lot. Thought I could do 10 sets of 7, but that idea ended quickly. Did 7,7, 5,4,3 or some combo like that thru the end.
Wall Balls- these werent as bad as I thought except the hot ass sun was right on me. I think I got through these pretty well–with some longer rest in between.
KB Swings- ouch these sucked. I took a lot of rest on these. More rest than I probably needed. Shoulda just done sets of 5.
Deadlifts–couldve done these a little faster too, but took more rest than needed at some points.
