Started my Double Under quest yesterday. Did about 10 mins of work cause my calves are still shot.
Got a couple of consecutive doubles. Feel much better now after watching videos and seeing some things I could correct form wise.
I still don’t know if Im ready to make up this WOD tonight, but I’ll be there.

Btw–anyone have a good Primary Care Physician in BK they recommend? I switched jobs last year and my old Doc doesn’t take my new insurance.
I need to get some yearly bloodwork/a checkup done, but can’t really find a good site with useful doctor reviews.
If any of you have advice please let me know–you can email me or just let me know in person.
The Dr. can be in Manhattan if theyre good. I have Healthnet insurance if that helps.

I second the No Domping sign! Also, you’re probably already considering it if space/budget allows, but a fridge/freezer for milk and ice packs.
My other request would be an electric kettle for tea. While I like espresso, if I drank it during evening class I’d never sleep! Tea could be byob (bring your own bag) or pay-per-bag like the espresso. Would anyone else like that? Or is this idea more appropriate for a bingo hall rather than a hard-core fitness facility?
Aside: just finished reading Born to Run and I loved it! If anyone is interested in reading it, let me know and I’d be happy to loan it out.
Fridge:DMak has found us a fridge from a buddy of his who is moving. If I remember correctly, it’s going to be about 2 weeks before we have it in house.
Shane is working on getting some tires.
Re: Heavy BagThe heavy bag we have ripped open recently. This has been something requested for a long time. Do you guys have any recommendations regarding brand/Wt? Links would be appreciated. We’ve still got some hooks to hang it up.
Re: TeaSnip, I’ve got a water heater thing at home. Ill bring it in tomorrow. Technically you could use the nespresso machine to make tea by not loading a pod but i’d prefer to minimize wear on the machine.
Re: YogaThere is talk of an on going mobility class. Kind of like yoga, but perhaps “better”. I’m looking for things to go on in the space on Sat/Sun nights as additional revenue. I’ll talk to the lulu girls and see if they’ve got any suggestions.
There is still PLENTY to get done at SBK. Stay tuned.

Lots of cheap stuff on craigslist. Gonna try to find something free. Doesnt have to be super fancy pants.
What about a couple nerf footballs to throw around (especially when the weather is nice and the gate goes up)
A pack n play for the babies who come through? I actually might be able to get one I kept at my old job.

I love the idea of fun drop-ins on Sat & Sun afternoons/evenings (thinking 5:30-ish). Nick and I keep trying to get our friend Gabriel who teaches capoeira to come check out the space–would others be interested in that? (We’re trying to converge our cults here, we admit it.)

@ShawnS have you tried http://www.zocdoc.com — I used it to find a PCP 2 years ago that took my insurance and have never been happier.
You can search for just about any type of doctor, sort by insurance, location, and even book the appointment online!

Did the box jump/wallball wod today at noon. 20′ box, 14# ball Time 24:51. I was dreading it going in, but I survived. Here’s how it goes:Round 1-No problem, 15 jumps, count to 5, 15 more. Wallball 15, count to 10, finish upRound 2- This is shit, never gonna make 5 rounds, 10 jumps, gasp, 10 more, count to 10 slowly,10 more, oh shit now wallballs 10, need a break, count to 10 slowly, Shane yelling at me to get back on it, 5, 5, 5,5 more, I’m gonna die.Round 3- only 2 more to go(lying to myself), but i’ts gonna kill me. 10 jumps, gasping, 10 more, count to 20, ten more. Oh shit, how am I gonna survive the wall ball thing? 5, gasp and count to 10, 5 and count, etc. finally get the thing doneRound 4- I’m dead, but maybe I can get through this alive. Repeat round 3, Shane yelling about a foul on the wallball squat, ignore him.Round 5- I’m gonna get through this. Box jumps, 10 x3. Plenty of F bombs, but I’m almost home. Wallball, 5, then 10, 5, then 5, 5 more, over. Hit the floor Shane tells me to get up and walk to the rollup. No f-ing way. He tells me again. Scrape myself off the ground, start walking. That wasn’t so bad, now, was it?
regarding heavy bags, 70lbs or heavier is my preference. I actually think a double end bag would be very cool, they are much cheaper (everlast pro is 40 bucks) and easier to take down and hang. plus, I don’t like to go very hard on a heavy bag because of my hand, but you can really wail on a double end bag, and it’s a bit more dynamic in terms of movement.

Jack thanks for summarizing my experience so eloquently.
Shane, thanks for not being there. Samir and I were discussing wall ball fouls as called by Shane during FGB. Samir ended up his FGB at 199. I remember feeling so defeated after Shane repeated the same number like 3 times in a row on my wall ball during FGB…
I think I got away with 10 wall ball reps that Shane wouldnt have counted.
That 24 inch box jump is a beast, WTF. Whoda thought 4 more inches could raise so much more hell? I was gassed by my first 5.
I’m glad I made it through–my 1st true chipper since coming back.
Thanks to Fox, Samir, Joe, Ryan and everyone who yelled at me.
I really thought I wasnt going to make it or have to drop weight or box 1 minute in.

Joe,
Great to see the quick turnaround/improvement on those doubles!
Deadlift: (65×5, 95×5, 135×3, 185×1) 200×5 (subbed this for the squats)
Power Clean: (53×3, 83×3, 103×3) 133x3x5
Everything felt good – really smug about the 200×5. Finally my deadlifts are going up again. Cleans were a bit ragged, hit my collar bone too much.

Starting Strength Day 12:
Backsquat: 245x5x3. This was really hard. Odd that a weight that was easy a week and a half ago gave me so much trouble. I guess that is the stomach bug I had last week catching up with me.
Bench: 160×5, 160×3. Uggh. Stalled out on the bench. It just got too heavy.
Power Cleans: 170x3x5. These felt really good. I had a few missed reps where my technique failed at this weight, but I was always able to just do another one to make up for it in terms of getting my reps.
I think this was my last Starting Strength day, going to do a Crossfit Total on Sunday or Monday and then rejoin the regularly scheduled programming.
I did the box jump/wall ball chipper by my lonesome in the 6:30 class. 17:39 with a 14# ball and 20″ box. My desire to ever do that again or eventually move to the 24″ box is absolutely nil. Thanks to Fox, Joe, and Mrs. Fox for the encouragement.
My quads are shot today. After class I was walking like a newborn fawn.

I couldn’t do box jumps and wall balls because my hip flexor’s still a little messed up (exacerbated by k2e), so I did the following:
