Steph W says
NO! I’ve been waiting to revisit this WOD since getting some quality practice in w/ Nick and I can’t make it tonight! Make up next week? Meanwhile, I woke up this morning feeling like I’d been hit by a truck. But I’m icing and getting ready for the 5k. Already told Senor Fox I’ll be there!

Matt wrote down my times (thanks), so I need to get them. But, while I know I’ve rowed faster before (uh, relatively speaking), this time I did manage to shave a little bit off and go a little faster with each rep, so that was pretty good. I also didn’t feel AS horbs after we were done as I have in the past. Yay for baby steps.
Dan Rx'd says
@ShawnS — CF Las Vegas is great. I used to 5K runs from the hotel to their spot, and then back. Be careful with the heat — it’s vicious and humbling.
I won’t be in class unfortunately, but am in for the 5K. Just need me a Yankee shirt…
Willie says
I can’t make it today. Who ever dares should try the sliders. You will have MUCH faster splits for 250 meters.
paul says
I can’t make it either, so I did 3 sprints today at the gym after a hard 10 minute piece @ 17s/m (which was 2550m total!): 43s, 44s, 45s.
the lowest I got last time was 45.1, so this is a solid improvement!
Matt U. says
Oh Christ, AGAIN? This is the first WOD that I’ll be doing for a third time.
/gets ready to vomit

BB Bench 5×5, (jumped in with Shane and Jeremy)
WU: 45, 65, 95, 130, 150,
170, 190, 200(4), 200, 205(2)
On sets 3 and 5 I got a wicked cramp in my back. I feel like I could have moved the weight otherewise.
Then caught up with David for the 250m sprints…
44.7, 46.8. 48, 48.8, 50
This is worse than last time I did these. What WAS the same was the urge to vommit about 4 minutes after finishing.
EFF YOU, CONCEPT 2 ROWER!!!
Looking forward to Saturday!… 5k in the park and then brunch. Details should be firmed up by tomorrow’s blog post.
…Linus is awesome, even if he spit up on me a little.

Ahh, my love hate relationship with the erg…
5×250 meters:42.1, 43.9, 43.7, 45.8, 44.8
Followed by some “irregular object” carries and three muscle up practice using a bit of the floor to get over the transition.
Everyone was awesome tonight!
Joe says
46.145.946.5?47.3
The timer wonked out on the fourth set – it was around 47 seconds. Much faster than when I did this in July…
Now if I could just decide how bare my feet will be on Saturday.

5x250m2:30 rest between sprints
49.6 48.7 51.8 56.6 56.4
I was pretty excited that the last sprint was a fraction of second faster than the 4th, since I didn’t think I had anything left in me.
was pretty sicky afterwards, felt bad that I wan’t able to help out with the “odd object” carry

Nick – Thanks for all your help today.

Who is better than CSFBK with Nick as our pace rower? I am humbled and soooooo appreciative.250m Row x 542.342.344.346.652.8I liked this. I ran out of gas on the last heat. This is my first time doing this and I will know how to pace myself better next time.
Malcolm says
Warmed up with the pace heats next to Nick. I noticed once we were all done warming up his Erg said it had gone 3700+m, and that was in the second class. The fact that he did so many pace heats and the wod is really impressive and super generous.
Times: 48.0, 47.8(PR), 50.5, 51.9, 50.4.
Was happy to get my final row back down in time a little from the two lousy ones in the three and four slots.

I just found this — costumes people wore in the marathon. Yay! The gorilla guy is awesome. http://www.buzzfeed.com/mjs538/the-25-best-costumes-at-the-2009-nyc-marathon

Rows:My times were lost in the abyss of odd object carries. I know my lowest time was 44.4 and my highest time was 55. something. Very inconsistent. I feel like i can go at it 100% for the first heat and then i hit a huge wall where i can’t muster up any power. I hate this workout because of how bad it hurts.
LBBSQ is feeling better. My hamstrings are too long for me to feel any real rebound below parallel.. or so it seems so far. thanks Jeremy and Fox for helping me out with this.
Thanks so much to everyone for getting their hands dirty and helping move alll the equipment. You guys are awesome.
Thanks also to Nick for helping out as Pace setter. Nino did it this morning and I found it tremendously helpful for folks who had a hard time hitting certain stroke ratings.
Matt U. says
47.6 (PR), 48.2, 50.9, 52.1, 51.6
Only 2:30 of rest between intervals, much less than I’ve been used to doing this in the past. HATED that aspect of it. What I love about this WOD is feeling like I’m giving everything in a sprint for the full 250m. During the last three rounds I just felt dead and lackadaisical. And with only one heat, I didn’t have a partner screaming in my ear to PULL! PULL!, so the lack of motivation brought me down some. (Joe tried, but he’s too nice.)
Despite my negativity about the experience, my times were slightly improved from when we did this a month ago.
Matt R. says
First time doing this. Not as bad as expected, but I was generally feeling pretty good coming into the box. As David mentioned in class, not to be attempted while hungover.

Just didn’t feel like I had anything in the tank after the second round.
Charlotte says
Holy CRAP, Katie, those are some impressive splits. Nice work!
This was fun. Thanks David Mak for yelling at me in my last set. And HUGE THANK YOU to Jeremy and Fox for yeoman’s Linus duty. Especially Jeremy for all the going-outside-and-bouncing. And Fox for being barfed on.Seriously, you guys, what other community would just hold our baby and let his parents work out? We are SOOOOO appreciative.
5×250:50.8, 51.1, 50.4, 50.9, 50.6. Was very pleased with the consistency. I had no idea how this was going to go and was happy to be able to maintain approx. 1:41 splits throughout. Willy’s advice to match your split with a stroke rating that doesn’t feel heavy is really good. I was able to just keep moving quickly (38-39 spm) and get through each piece in about 30 strokes.
