What kind of home cleaning products and soaps do you use? Any suggestions for the new space?

CFQ in SBK! Love it. Good shot! Thanks for the post love.
Dan Rx'd says
Happy birthday to Paul from CF Queens!
As for cleaning products… I recently learned about the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser which is AMAZING.

Matt: Next year you should really up the ante and agree to shit your pants. Think of how much more money you could have raised. Huh?
Charlotte says
I’m all about the eco-friendly products. Bleach-based stuff puts dioxins into the water supply. We use Method or Mrs. Meyers, or for real scrubbing, Bon Ami, which is super-cheap and also environmentally friendly.
Paulie T-Shirts says
We’ll have to add a trophy case to our wishlist for the new space!
Steph W says
Coffee, cults, and cleaning products…fun!
I use Method products too, and agree with Dan that the Magic Eraser is pretty magical. It’s really good for scuff marks, etc., which may come in handy considering the new space and all the freshly painted walls.
David says
I’ve recently been experimenting with some DIY cleaning products. I made two at home which worked well, they’re super inexpensive too. Here are the prototypes:
Disinfectant:Water, Hydrogen peroxide, Pure Lemon Oil
General CleanerVinegar, Water, Pure Lemon Oil
If you need to scrub a hard mess, just pour some baking soda on the mix. I also cut up a bunch of shirts instead of buying paper towels.
I love Mrs Myers and planned on using that as the hand soap unless something better and cheaper comes along.
Keep em coming!
The Thruster/Pull-up WOD made me VERY hungry afterwards
Jess says
Made up the deadlift wod this morning but not before doing a few more thrusters to warm up. Let’s just say that I (as well as my wrists, legs, collarbone, etc.) am pretty sick of thrusters. Alright, I’ll stop bitchin’.
Deadlifts 5×5:(89×5, 115×5, 135×5)155×5, 165×5, 175×5, 185×5, 195×5
All I can say is damn was that heavy. My form definitely suffered toward the end but I wasn’t as shaky as when we did the 1 rep max dl’s.
Fun to work with Amy and watch her not give up on that last set!
Dan Rx'd says
David,
In your experimenting with cleaning products, don’t combine ammonia with bleach. It can be toxic or explosive. And now that you shouldn’t do it, don’t do it for fun…
Chris Fox says
Dr. Bronners, diluted, as hand soap and dish soap. The rest of the stuff we buy is really just prettily packaged versions of David’s home-brew.
COFFEE!
Some of my favorite local spots.
Gorilla – 5th ave @ Park Place (good, stong brew, makes me want a cup whenever I am near, but I will go out of my way to have it)
Southside – 6th ave @ 19th street (good brew, good folks)
Roots – 5th ave off 18th (Stumptown coffee, brewed well. Jamie, the owner, is a super cool dude and they also have free live bluegrass and country music on most Fri and Sat eves. Free PBR when you buy a sandwich!)

My phone dislikes posting comments.
Brooklyn Boulders tonight anyone? 🙂
ah coffee… Choice by my apt brews a good strong cup (Lafayette at Grand).
Chris Fox says
What’s the next CrossFit challenge (a la FGB, Squat Off, Jackie, etc) coming up !?!
Dan Rx'd says
Chris, it’s called the annual beard growing contest!
tamar says
Am I the ONLY person for whom the magic eraser does NOT work? That shit is totally busted. I’ve tried it twice after hearing people refer to it as the second coming, and it’s done nothing a Brillo pad couldn’t. Out of curiosity, I bought a bottle of Kaboom. It also does almost nothing but it does kinda give me a little headrush due to the fumes. KABOOM, baby. I’m DOWN with the beard-growing contest!
jack says
OK, here’s one guaranteed to piss some people off. http://www.noteviljustwrong.com
Cult #11: Global Warmism. The hysterical belief that human consumption of fossil fuels will lead to melting polar ice caps, rising sea levels, and the end of humankind. It’s chief prophet is former VP Al Gore. Oh, I forgot to mention we are currently in a “plateau period” where the warming has slowed, but have no fear, the religion will be back after a short break.
Sarah says
It’s not exactly a cleaning product, but after taking up all those mats after FGB I decided we really need a shop vac.
Sameer Parekh says
Jack– sorry, Al Gore is evil. He’s promoting global warming hysteria just so the companies he’s invested in can do well and he will get rich.
cleaning products? kerosene.

Thanks Dan.And congrats to CFSBK for winning the NE fund raising trophy. Awesome job!
Chris Fox says
Sorry Tamson, didn’t see that was Tamar who’s down with the beard growing contest. You could totally rock that though.
Steph W says
Jack, just wait till you need help getting that polar bear out of your yard. We’ll see who’s laughing then.
Fox – what about apple bobbing? Paleo friendly and seasonally appropriate!
Jess says
I’m down with bouldering tonight. Should be there around 7. Do we have to mention anything else besides cfsbk for the discount?
Paulie T-Shirts says
I would love a polar bear in my yard because that would mean that I finally have a yard!!!
tam says
I appreciate your vote of confidence, Mr. Fox, but I’m not convinced that I actually could “rock” it.
Asta says
Im not sure Im just going to name drop Shane + cfsbk and bat my eyelashes hoping for the best? Ha.
Shane says
Guys,
I won’t be going climbing tonight but they should be ready for you at Brooklyn Boulders. The managers Ben, Lance and Roger know the drill. Have fun!
Excited to be hosting the trophy! Thanks to everyone for their fundraising efforts.
tam says
When I went, I just mentioned that I was from CFSBK. It was easy as pie! I wish I could be there, but, alas, we have dinner plans. And my shoulder is totally tweaked from last night. yowch.
Nino says
Sameer and Jack: I really enjoyed “Cool It” by Bjorn Lomborg. The book offered a serious take on the reality of the trade offs we face related to global warming. Probably the most balanced treatment of the topic I’ve seen.
Laurel says
Jess – nice lifting, you badass lady you. I’m jealous! I couldn’t get that 195 off the ground again after my first two pulls. Can’t wait to see what you pull for the next 1 rep max. I was just looking at the games stats to see what the girls were lifting… we’ve got to get up to at least 325.
tamar says
No, don’t get it twisted. I’M the Tam who’s down with beard growing!
This morning:Did the WOD w/ green band (and David!) and 25lbs for thrusters in just under 15 mins. HAAARD.
And YAY for the FGB trophy and fundraising!!!
Brian says
Congratulations to us all for the FGB Trophy!!!!It is nice to have Matt on our side!
Jack and Sameer – please stop the crazy talk. I like you guys.
Asta – missed climbing tonight but will be vertical next week.
Fox – you only want the contests you are sure to win. What’s up with that? Hairy monkey!
Oh – Vinegar and water on the hardwood floors. soap and shampoo I steal from hotels.Lemon juice/salt on the cutting boards and counter tops.
STeph – Polar bears scare the S%$#* out of me. Let’s keep them in the arctic please! Jack and Sameer – see above.
Whew – busy blog tonight!
Brian says
Oh – and Bloomberg killed him!
Chris Fox says
Bouldering was fun, but I’m still better at post-climb Sheep Staion burgers than I am at boulders.
Brian – The bare assed photo contest was already won! Beard growing was next in line!
Jason Ackerman - Albany CrossF says
Congrats CF SBK!
