Always look both ways before crossing the street. Especially when you're carrying barbells.
Last year we had tremendous support from our members providing prizes for Fight Gone Bad. If you think you could contribute something (or know a business/person who could) please email david(at)CrossFitSouthBrooklyn.com. All suggestions and contributions are welcome!

For young fiction: Susan Cooper’s “the Dark is Rising” series is waaay better than Potter (and I loved Potter).

OMG “The Corrections”! Yes! And “Middlesex.” Clearly this is my favorite thread ever.

I didn’t even bother trying to answer this because it’s such a grand topic, but I love what people have listed! It’s neat to find out how much we have in common beyond the WODs, etc. Love Shirley Jackson, Nabokov, sci-fi, anything in translation…
Two books I wanted to mention as must-reads for anyone in Brooklyn (to follow up on Sarah’s “Motherless Brooklyn” recommend):
Man Gone Down by Michael Thomas. It is the most heart-wrenching book set in OUR brooklyn. I dare you to read it and not look at South Brooklyn with whole new tear-filled eyes.
Asterios Polyp by David Mazzuchelli. Stunning look at New York vis-a-vis the midwest.

Has anyone else noticed that their FGB page has been changed?
My custom text was changed. It now has no mention of WWP, and has the Lance Armstrong Foundation in there. I contacted them but haven’t heard back yet.

A few I love are Anna Karenina by Tolstoy, Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson and The Testament of Yves Gundron by Emily Barton (another local author). I also loved The History of Love, A River Runs Through It and Lolita… this is a tough question to answer as an English teacher!
