If you were stuck on a desert island and could only bring one piece of equipment with you, what would it be?(Unfortunately, all the barbells and bumpers fell overboard too)

had an awesome, relaxing 1.5k swim at red hook pool this morning, good seeing mcgrath and gabrus on the way out. also a very nice bike ride to work.
I used to swim in high school but haven’t much since then, what’s a good swim workout/routine?
I’d be interested to know a good Swim workout too.
Mike and I are going to the Red Hook Pool later this afternoon. Im an awful swimmer.

RINGS – assuming there is a place to hang them (i.e. this island DOES have at least one good tree branch.)
Happy Birthday Deb!!

I take it you mean exercise equipment? Not like hair dryer or toaster oven? I think maybe a medicine ball. Med ball cleans are a pretty good exercise. But I have a feeling just living on the island would keep me fit.
Bethanysays
I’d bring a nice heavy kettlebell!
Jrsays
I figure I could find things to swing and jump on, I could swim and run, and climb, so if I can’t have a squat rack, I guess I’d bring a foam roller.
paulsays
yeah I think 2 pood kettlebell would be the way to rock it.

paul, we’re going to start going earlier to increase distance if you want to partake in our workouts.
I would bring a pair of 40# DB’s.Thrusters!/Swings/Cleans/Throws/Lunges/Renegade Rows/Snatches/Deadlifts/Farmers Walks etc etc
Warm-up:Run to Lyceum. 10min flat3 Rounds of10 Strict Ring Dips10 Russian twist tosses w/ Shane10 45# OHS
MHP Snatch 45×4, 65×5, 75×3, 95×3
SNCH/K2E WOD10:33 as rx’d
Snatches felt pretty strong, first round was 12-9, bad hook grip rip slowed me down a bitKnees to elbows are where I lost most of my time, i can’t get my kip together. Lots of Doubles and triples
Cool down: 5 min Row at 2:50ish pace
Run Home: 12 Min
Now to the Red Hook Pool for some fun!

I’m sitting outside of a cafe on Bedford, getting seriously jacked on caffine, even by my tripple espresso standards (Magie would be so proud), waiting for the 6:30 class at virtuosity.Ooo crazy guy ranting in the street. One item? Yeah, the kb would be nice, probably allaround better then the sacrid jump rope, which would eventually break and leave you like the bookworm with the broken glasses in the Twilight Zone episode Time Enough At Last ( or something like that)
I would want a heavy duty and very long cloth tube and some heavy duty twist ties. Think of all the creative sandbags you could create… kb no problem, weird bar bell yup, giant sand snake… etc.
We did say a desert island so I am assuming we get free sand.
Maybe 12 feet long and of a material like a normal sandbag which can be twisted or folded over.

I’ll go with our pullup bar set up. Is that cheating? I could use half for shelter and half to play. May have chosen Erg if the agony of being on island with rower and no boat wasn’t too much.
Margiesays
hahaha – I can tell Erik is jacked by the number of typos in his post!
Riffing off Shawn’s idea: a big ass tire. I could sleep/hide in it, jump on it, flip it, whack it with branches. What the hell.
I’d bring a steel hammer axe as my survival and training tool.
With it, I would cut down trees, branches and vines so I could immediately build a simple lean-to shelter. Later, a more elaborate hut would be constructed to shield me from the hot sun and the cold evenings.
With a small amount of flint, building a fire would follow for warmth, protection, and cooking.
Other tools and weapons could be made from the wood I cut with my trusty hammer axe. Such as a spit to cook or spears for hunting.
Hollowed out tree trunks would be used to catch rain for clean drinking water.
Coconuts, punctured with a wooden spike would be emptied and filled with seeds. They’d set as traps, tied by vine to the base of a tree. And when the small monkeys stick their hands inside the coconut to grasp the seeds, I’d make a ruckus to terrify them. And in the panic, the greedy creatures would make a fist, and be unable to remove their hand from the trap.
Monkey would be served for dinner.
It would be an exploration into the world of the hunter gatherer, a regression into a wild thing…
Eventually, I’d grow bored of this place and set about using my hammer axe and array of new tools to build a small boat.
And then one day my ship would find itself weather tested and well stocked with dried fruit, citrus, and jerked-monkey meat. Then I’d then say farewell to the island and set sail into the next hypothetical situation…

LMAO Wow…Dan’s post is top 3 I’ve read on this blog. Instant Classic. The monkey trap visual is the best.
