Back off week. I need it. Kept it nice and slow. Did a 2:10 spit on the row with a hard 10 to start and a hard 10 at 250. Got the whole thing done in 1:47.Burpies – I took these really slow. Doing a sprawl to plank and then a push up then jump. Made sure I never got winded. Then did the overhead with behind the neck push presses at 115.
Total time 8:17. It was really hard to not push myself, but I really need to recover.
Then did a max single set of pullups. Really worked on a calmer gentler kip. Stopped when my hands were hurting pretty bad at 30 reps. Last tested max was 17 using a more aggressive kip.
Laurel says
Scaled the weight a lot: 65lb. Time: 6:37. Probably should have gone with 70, but I was using the recent 5×3 press to calibrate and my max that day was 75.
About 20 minutes after finishing I thought I had more left in me, so I tried to do mhpc, then a max set of pull-ups… gave up on both activities and decided to go get milk instead. This WOD was exhausting.
Nice working with you Jenna – it’s great to have you back!

fun little burner that was…can’t wait to try it again.
WOD500m row 1.3230 burpees, broken into sets of 510 shoulder to overhead 155lb (broken in to sets of 2.. HARD!)
time – 8.23
pull up technique work was good and needed.

8:24, I did half the push jerks at 155 and half at 135, because I was worried about my wrist on the recovery. 155 was really hard, I don’t like to drop down in weight during the middle of a wod but this was def necessary for this one.
looking forward working on jerk form, as if it was better I def could have handled 155.
sarah says
8:58. 57lb push jerks.

felt okay so i decided to do a CF endurance wod with charmel.8 rounds 30sec work 20sec rest1055m avg 2:08

Even scaling back to 135, I found the overhead surprisingly difficult. In part because my wrists were hurting, probably from the previous two days of presses, and just fatigue. Not really an effort to write home about.Time: 11:56
After class did the endurance workout from a few days ago.
8 rounds: 30 second row, 20 second resttotal: 1166m (I think my best round was 149m, most around 140m)
Laurel says
David – that chair video is quite peculiar… many gratuitous shots of male anatomy compressing and uncompressing with an almost robotic voice narrating. weird.

Another wod I enjoyed. I backed off today by not doing an extra workout post wod. That erg wod looked fun.
So I got through row and press pretty nicely (burpees unbroken). I think I was at about 5 and a half when I finished burpees. Unfortunately it took me 5 minutes to get the overhead press done.
I finished at 10:02 with 115 ( a real agressive weight for me).
I’m not sure if I shouldve rested more between burpees and presses, but I definitely needed to really focus on leg and hip drive more. Maybe I shouldve just done sets of 1.with shorter rest. The 4 failures really killed my time.
I was talking to Adam afterwards aboutusing a lighter weight wouldve not forced me to take asmuch rest and make me still work to get the weight up. I recovered quick after the workoutand was able to do 2 more push presses at that same weight pretty easy because I had so much rest waiting to push the weight up.
Look forward to trying this again.I think I came up with a name for my blog so if I haveTime tonight I’ll get it started.

75lb push presses6:40
i could have gone heavier i think, burpees suck in general and even more so after any activity but suck worse of all after rowing.
i followed up this wod with a second wod of digging out a tree stump in my backyard with a pick ax, digging out some bamboo and other fun things with garden tools. through the whole terrible outdoorsy experience i kept thinking… this is why i crossfit, this is why i crossfit.

7:36. Can’t remember my row time. Burpees — pure crap and in serious need of improvement, though I do applaud myself for not curling up into the fetal position and passing out while down there on the floor. Push presses at 37 lbs. Eh? Eh.
Joe says
8:20. 95lbs push press.

Yo.. had to miss today to help a friend move. =(
Thanks everyone who came out to my party last night and made it rock. Good times.
I think I will have to call foul on Speal’s burpees. Ears!
Chris says
8:50. 100lb push jerks.
Lost a lot of time on the Burpees. Sets of 5. Sucking air in between…

For today’s wod I used 145#. 6:25. Could’ve gone heavier, but still a good workout. Thanks for throwing this wod at us David. Great choice

7:18 at 115 lbs.
Push Jerks at 115 are usually easier for me, but felt heavy today. Burpees in sets of five.
I liked this one and would like to row more.

7:27 with 95 on the presses. Fun workout.

Have a great summer! I’m going to to be building a box in my garage in Wisconsin. I’ll be by for a WOD or two in early August and then back in the game for September. Big hugs to all.
Shane, email those pointers on setting up a box petehoppmann01@hotmail.comThanks for looking out for me today.

Hey guys!
Having fun hanging out at CF Oakland.Yesterday was a rest day there, so everyone got to pick their own workout. I did the Bear complex.
Today:warm up was a short run, 7 wall squats, 30 sec handstands, 5 tall box jumps, 3 deadhang pullups, 40 DUs.
WOD: 5×5 press and max kipping pullupsworked up to 68×4 pullups. Pathetic. My hands are still jacked.
Finisher:5 rnds of:5 reps shoulder to overhead10 burpees
I push jerked 80# the first round then dropped to 75, but even that was too heavy.8:46
I should have gone lighter on the jerks in general, but definitely considering how much overhead work I did yesterday and today.
CF Oakland is no joke.
Margie says
that’s 68X3

Just watched the video — waiting for the C2 rower modification for extra comfort during the 2K.

8:05 as RX’dShoulder still hurts, went slower on the burpees.Push Jerks were challenging at 165.
Looking forward to doing Jackie…
Mad props to Charlotte and Nick for all the good advice. Felt amazing coming off the row.
Taped my wrists a little too tight, burpees were painful until I got the tape off. Slow pace due to shoulder injury, but mostly unbroken.
165lbs Push Jerks were tough – should have gone behind the neck. Limiting factor was air and staying pressurized.
Spent some time applying CrossFit to softball.
Played catch in Prospect Park for around an hour then did an hour of batting practice with the rest of my team.
Accuracy with catching and throwing has dramatically improved.
Also, have worked on my swing; nailed just about every pitch from the machine and sent them down the center line. Had the pitcher ducking most of the time. Really delight in the sounds of the aluminum bat making contact with the ball…
Have a game later tonight, hope the practice pays off!
David Mak says
7:37 with 115 on the press. My press was for shit and I jacked my neck on the right side doing something screwy. Feels like hell this morning.Great WOD, though. I should have gone a little harder but burpees have gotten into my head in a bad way.
David Mak says
Peter — Have a great summer! Let us know how CF Wisconsin Garage is coming along.
Dan — How do you function on so little sleep?
Adam says
7:53 with push press @ 115. The burpess were the hardest.
Jenna says
This thing kicked my ass, for sure. I decided to go heavier than usual (for me) and went with 65lbs on the bar– given the most i’ve ever managed to get overhead has been 72lbs, I knew this was going to be tough. I finished at 13:00 even. Those push presses were awful, but my quads were also so drained from the row that I couldn’t jerk em to make it any easier. There were a few that were close but I just couldn’t lock em out, which was frustrating. Overall I was pleased even tho my time is SLOW, cause I know I pushed myself for this one.
Charlotte says
8:29 I think w/ 85# jerky push presses. (Jerk-esque?) Thanks to Chris for keeping me focused w/o going too intense. Row was 1:59.4. Burpees were majorly modified for belly–step out, step back, half w/o a pushup.
Nick did 3:57 w/ 115# jerks.
Outside time: Street capoeira on Vanderbilt! (Clapping & singing for me, playing for Nick.)
Inside time: US-Brazil soccer.
Anton says
7:58 95lb push press.
gabrus says
9:14 as RX’d made this up on tuesday AM.
I like this WOD a lot, I thought 165 would be easier, but the burpees killed me.
