What is your favorite Cheat food?
Laurel says
masa de harina – specifically hand made corn tortillas and TAMALES.
ice cream – only if it is really really good (blue marble, Bonita’s dulce de leche or cajeta soft serve.)
cocktails.
paul says
ice cream. bourbon. beer. although I do limit my consumption of these things to reasonable amounts (except on rob’s bday), I don’t consider it “cheating” really.
god I love ice cream.
Charlotte says
Things made with flour. Tortillas, baguette, pizza, croissants, muffins, cake, fresh pasta…
CHEESE.
Alcohol of most varieties.
Sameer Parekh says
liquor isn’t cheating. that’s an integral part of any diet.
Erik K. says
chocolatelots of itsometimes with ice creamor ice cream without chocolateor crème brûlée
as far as real meals, I don’t know. I’m finding cheat meals upset my stomach, although Indian is still hard to resist.
Anyway, since I have the day off, I went to the Y for a bit.
Dumbbell Bench Press80x7, 90×1, 90×3, 95F, 95F, 80×5
I’m getting close to pr’ing with the 95lb dumbbells. As I just started being able to use the 90’s a few weeks ago, I’m pleased with my set of 3. The dumbbells at the Y go up to 100 lbs. I’d love to nail a set of 3 with those. Consider that high on my goals list.
Malcolm says
Burger and Fries.
But it has to be a good burger and good fries. I want grass fed and from some place I trust enough to eat a rare burger.
Also ethiopian food. I love injera.
Jenna says
I am definitely in the ice cream is my cheat camp.
tho i am curious… 4 oz wine = 1 carb block… what is it for tequila? cause its not a cheat if you can work it into your count…
2 weeks away from the box and i am very excited about coming back tomorrow. woohoo!
paul says
I forgot pudding. especially banana pudding, but really, any kind of pudding is pretty solid. and reese’s peanut butter cups.
Brandy says
I am a chocolate and vodka kind of girl!
Andy says
I will mary any woman who knows how to make Creme Brulee, New Yorker Cheese cake and Belgian waffles.
david says
Burgers, the bloodier and more grassfed the better.Cleaver Co burger in chelsea market is still my favorite in the city. That and some good fries. mmmm
I also like muffins and cake type foods but usually dont see anything worth buying. maybe im not looking hard enough
Also.. it’s a secret so dont tell anyone but.. I love diet coke. I have 1-2 per week usually.
Malcolm says
David
That is a bad habit. Consuming non-caloric sweet things can lead to a disassociation in your body between sweet flavor and calories which can cause over consumption of carbohydrates.

At least that has been shown in rats. If I ever want a soda (rare) I make sure it is full calorie.
David McG says
whiskey, beer, burgers, dim sum, chips. diet coke is also a fave. chocolate, wings, not sure if they are. sweet stuff not so much, thankfully.
ShawnS says
French Fries!!!Tortilla ChipsBreadPastaIce Cream
ShawnS says
Malcolm reminded me of Injera..ethipian food mmmmm. I always ride past Ghenet on my way to the Lyceum and Im like hmmm…I wonder if I can eat some Tibs without Injera–but I know if I get within arms reach of Injera, Im gonna eat a lot of it.
Thai food–I miss eating Noodles Pad seew, Pad kee mao and Thai Fried Rice as much as I did before.
Chinese or Vietnamese Noodle soups.
Indian food especially breads–Puris, Rotis, Nan.
West Indian food Roti–I can usually stay away from rice and peas.
I used to be much more of a foodie. I have great self control if I have to go get the food or “work” to get it.
Whenevr its in arms reach, I cant control myself.
David Mak says
Man, you all mentioned some great food – Ethiopian, rare grass fed burgers, wings (one of my favorites!), dim sum, ice cream, a little bit of booze… great stuff.
I don’t belong to a diet “camp” and don’t think there is such a thing as a “cheat” – you have to live. My philosophy is to listen to your body (and not your taste buds necessarily) – very closely. If something you eat is not good for your body, it will tell you, but even then there is moderation. Everyone has a different genetic makeup and what’s good for me might suck for you. So I’m gonna go eat some Indian food!
Charlotte says
David: Blue Sky Bakery muffins (5th ave btw Bergen & St. Marks) are worth buying. And I would say that even if Nick’s cousin didn’t own it. I love the bran ones. And the ones with chocolate. Banana chocolate bran…mmmm….
Brian says
Burger from Grand Canyon on 7th Ave (1st/2nd st).One of the last great grease grills!
OH – and Chicken Paprika from Cafe Steinhof (7th Ave/14th st). doesn’t sound that bad until you power down the Spatzle!
I have been really good lately though.
David says
Charlotte,
I’ll check it out if I’m ever in the area. Sounds good with a diet coke. Maybe I’ll pour a little of it on the side walk for malcom.
Anne says
I “cheat” all the time, but I’m with Big Mak and call it living! 🙂
But if I had to pick…I’d eat some muffins with David and Charlotte, drink with Brandy and celebrate Rob’s bday again!
nicole says
can we ban talk of “cheating” and “being good” from cfsbk vocabulary please? i mean really? there may be children around listening. we sound like neurotic obsessive compulsive anorexic teenage girls.
