Burpee Challenge Madness
We've got two concurrent Burpee Challenges going on, Steph's Challenge and Bjorn's Challenge. Who's in and which team and how far along are you? Lets see who makes it out the other end this time!

yay for burpees! today is (as dan just mentioned) day 55 for me and my crew. we have a wide range of ages and athletic ability and have a blog going to A) be supportive and B) bitch! it has definitely gotten easier to do more burpees (please disregard the poor showing on sunday morning though) and i’m excited to finish.
um, and i see margie and juliana both pulled 215 yesterday!??! you are rock stars ladies! sad i had to miss it. see everyone tomorrow!

I just want to remind all burpee buyers to complement the burpee madness with ring rows and/or scapular flys. We don’t want to your muscles to get totally out of whack.

alright I am in. I can do burpees while in costa rica…hopefully I am not on the second floor.I feel for my neighbors…
also since I started foundations I have lost 25 or so pounds and am under 250 for the first time since Senior year of college.
but I HAVE been doing secret John Basedow workouts on the side.

I second Margie’s suggestion about flys or ring rows. In my experience these 100-day challenges are amazing for strength gains but can also be a bit dangerous if not balanced out properly.

I’m on the Bjorn Burpee Challenge,day 9. Anyone who did Heidi on Sunday is an easy buy in. I pulled 275 on the last 2 deadlifts Monday, the most I’ve done till now. Did 12 strict pullups blue band then 2 more sets of 12 green-Thanks David McG. Also, 3 sets of Ring Rows. Great female gladiators, Julianna and Jenna, more exciting than mud wrestling:)

I’ll write more on my experience with the burpee madness a little later, but one thing I’ve noticed…
Was getting winded pretty quickly, and controlling my breathing was the solution. Dropped my time for 50 consecutive burpees from 4 minutes to 2:48 by making a minor tweak.
So here it goes:I hold my breath during the pushup phase.During the jump I’m breathing outand during the sprawl I’m breathing in.So by the time I’m in plank, I’m pressurized.
That’s it. Would be interested to hear if this works for anyone else…

Yes, I strongly encourage some horizontal pulling and scapular mobilization work to compliment the burpee challenge.
Ring RowsBent over or Bench Dumbbell RowsBent over Barbell Rows
Scapular Flys, Wall Angels and some other goodies can be RX’d to everyone interested in class.
