Affiliate Challenge at CrossFit Hoboken
"Over at CrossFit Hoboken, we think it's time for some friendly competition. We will be holding an Event on Dec 20th at CrossFit Hoboken.
We would like to invite all of you to field a team of 6 competitors and
join us. It will allow all of us to finally meet in one place and
discuss best practices and other things that will lead to our further
success. December 20th is a key date because it is the same day as our
holiday party. The party will consist of and open bar and buffet. We
have ordered massive amounts of food however, there is a $30 cover to
pay for the bar. All competitors that choose to attend may bring 1
guest. Each team is only allowed 2 trainers (as participants) the rest
must be made up of members of your respective gyms. Please RSVP. Thank
you."

Who's in??
Speaking of events, I'm happy to say that I will be working with Neil of CrossFit Boston and Jason from Albany CrossFit to put on the North East Coast Qualifier for the 2009 CrossFit Games. Headquarters has given us total freedom in deciding the workouts, point system and structure of the qualifier. It's an honor to have been chosen and I'm very excited to be working with two tremendous coaches and people on this project. Stay tuned for more updates on the qualifier as they come.

I’m going to be at my sisters wedding the weekend of Affiliate Challenge at CFHbkn. Please let me know if anyone is interested and we’ll organize a team!
Dan R says
That’s awesome David — congrats on being involved in the structure of the East Coast qualifier!!
I’m interested in the Affiliate Challenge as well.
That being said, can’t wait to tackle Fran today!
Jenna says
Congratulations on being selected for such a high distinction, David. Couldn’t go to a more deserving coach. Right on!
Erik K. says
I’m down with the challenge, sounds like fun.
Andy says
I made up the DL WOD in a bit modified version.DL standing on a box (10@135, 10@180) 3@225, 3@270, 3@292, 3@315
I’m very interested in watching the challenge. May I accompany team SBK to NJ as, say, Mr. Deadlifts personal assistent?
Margie says
I’m in for the challenge! Andy, since Mr. Deadlift will be out of town, perhaps you can be his representative?
FRAN!! ARGH!!
stephanie says
1. david, congrats – you rock and will do the east coast qual right!
2. i’m up for the hoboken challenge if we can get a team together
3. i’m SAD bc i was just saying i wanted to tackle fran again and here it is and i can’t quite do it yet bc of my knee.
Margie says
I got the wrong Mr. Deadlift. Andy, I’m afraid you’ll still be in the assistant position.
Rob says
Congrats on the North East Coast Qualifier for the 2009 CrossFit Games. That’s pretty huge.
If I am in town I’d like to go to CF Hoboken and I can fit some people in my car.
Fran killed me at the level 1 cert a few weeks ago. I should be able to DOUBLE (Yes I said double) my time now that I can do a half ass Pull up as opposed to the jumping pull ups.
brandy says

Kent says
Congrats David! That’s awesome news. I’ll be out of town for the Hoboken challenge, good luck to those who go.
I’m two days behind you guys, so I did shoulder presses today1x7115, 125, 135, 140, 145, 150(PR), 155(F)
500meter row x 31:47, 1:50.1, 1:50.9
Felt pretty good to get the PR, my max was hanging around 140 for a while.
Juliana says
I’m sad on vacation from dec 13-22. I would love to do something like that. If u guys decide to do any others I’m down.
As for our party what’s going on?
Congrats david! That sounds fantastic. I see great things in your future.
see u guys tonight
Adam says
That is freaking awesome about the qualifier. Way to go; I’m looking forward to it.
Jeremy says
3:57 as RX’d (PR by 40 seconds)
It actually felt slower than the last time I did it, it felt like the rest I took on the second round of thrusters was taking way too long.
Juliana, way to attack an RX’d Fran your first time out, hardcore!
jacinto says
The old bastard got a7:50 fran rx’d
David says
I guess my left ankle was jealous of all the attention my right one got and decided to even things out.
Bummed.
Really phenomenal work by everyone today, I’ll post some stuff tomorrow, got some great pics.
Cynthia Holahan says
Fran was a bitch. Too profaine? I liked it, if that makes it any better. 11:40
I’m not ready to compete in the Hoboken challenge (obviously) but I’d be happy to go and cheerlead for the team. Let me know if there’s room. I can drive peeps too.
Juliana Agudelo says
OMG Fran was tough! RX’D that bitch 10:21. This is the first Rx I have done that has included pull-ups.
Margie your a wonderful workout buddy. Girl u got me going. I think ur a great coach!
All the coaches at csfsb kick ass, u guys have pushed me a long way (thank you so much). I feel like I have come so far since I started only 4 months ago and it’s because of such a supportive environment .
Thanks Jeremy!
David please take care of ur foot. STAY OFF IT!!!!
See u guys manana
david mcg says
damn. missed fran and was looking forward to it..hope i can do it sometime soon.
david congrats on being asked to help on the crossfit games, you’ll kick ass.unfortunately i will not be around for the affiliate challenge or the party as i will be in ireland from dec 17 for the holidays, but definitely interested in future events. see you tomorrow
Dan R says
Wish I was there to see everyone kick Fran’s butt!
Seems like it was a day of PR’s for most — can it be the diet?
4:37 as rx’d (PR)
Last time as rx’d was over 8 minutes with an injury.
Thrusters felt strong until I whacked the bar into my collar bone midway into the second round.
Really need to work on pullups.
Next time, it’s sub-4, with the goal of not breaking the pullups or the thrusters up.
Rob M. says
Fran 11:44 as rx’d
It was much different from when I did it a couple of weeks ago with jumping pullups and 50 strangers watching me. I took a lot of rest last night and I needed every minute of it.
Fran is one hell of a woman.
I thought that was a sadistically fun workout (once I was able to breathe again and the feeling of nausea went away)
Sameer Parekh says
fran 10:43, 85 lbs.
Andy says
Margie, assistent or mascot…the most important thing is to see how our team rocks. And, of course, to raid the buffet.
Shoulder Press1@90; 1@100; 1@112; 1@123
Sameer Parekh says
I would be into going to hoboken. It’ll be the end of my semester! party-time.
Margie says
12:31first 15 pullups kipping and singled. rest with tan band
this is the closest i’ve gotten to rx’d.
Juliana – I am so so proud of you!! You are the first woman at SBK to do Fran rx’d! Fantastic work.
Congrats to Rob for getting this done as rx’d as well!
Jeremy and Jacinto absolutely thrashed their previous times. I am in awe. And Dan too!
Great work to all!
Not Rob M. says
If David is going to continue and try to break his ankles would anyone else like to chip in for his Christmas gift?http://www.pridemobility.com/jazzy/jazzyselect.asp
🙂
jacinto says
yes Iam in for getting David a walker for Xmas.
Don says
12:39 as rx’d, though that range of motion and that “form” surely takes the term “rx’d” toward the edge of ridiculous. It was my first Fran and I think with the addition of a third, fourth lung, I’ll really improve.
Actually, as a newcomer I am continually running into these milestone workouts for the first time and it is enjoyable, on some level, to put each number down in the book and know I’ll return to it not in three days when Leg and Back day comes around and I add one rep or 5 percent, but at some unknowable point in the future after a myriad other discreet gasping, flailing trials have-one hopes-brought some improvement. Not by chance, but not by focusing every workout on getting a better Fran time or 1 rep deadlift either. Just a thought.
That the CFSBK Muckety-muks should be entrusted (saddled?)with as much regional responsibility as they will accept was beyond obvious. I congratulate CFHQ for not fucking it up.
