Foundations and CrossFit Group Classes
If spin class or boot camp is the closest you've come to a group workout, then you've been missing out. At CrossFit South Brooklyn we make your gym experience more fun, more effective and provide quantifiable proof of your progress. Not convinced? Once you've completed a Foundations cycle you can jump into any of our 60 weekly CrossFit classes in addition to speciality classes like Yoga, AntiGravity, Active Recovery, Pilates and Open gym. Experienced CrossFitters who have been training at another affiliate can contact us directly or stop in to try a group class for free. We do not require RSVPs at CFSBK so come on down whenever works for you!
The Foundations program is where athletes new to CrossFit go to learn how to perform our movements and learn the training philosphy. All the major lifts and exercises will be taught from scratch with an emphasis on technical proficiency. These cycles meet for a total of 6 classes over the course of 2-3 weeks and cost $250 per person. Group cycles are appropriate for most able bodied adults and no baseline level of fitness is expected. Each class will cover 3-5 new movements and then end with a workout which can be scaled up or down for your abilities. Class size is limited to 4-6 people to ensure an optimal learning experience. We also offer private and semi-private Foundations cycles.

What happens in CrossFit Group class?
Classes are led by one or two of our Coaches and follow the posted "Workout of the Day." Each class starts out with a warm-up and is usually followed by a strength segment and finishes with a conditioning workout. Exercises and programming are carefully explained by our coaches and includes lots of hands on help from our coaching staff to make sure you're working in a safe and effective manner. We pride ourselves on the quality and consistency of our group classes, expect an appropriate challenge regardless of how new or fit you currently are. We also have enough equipment and space to satisfy even the most experienced CrossFitter!
We program in eight week cycles and post the training templates ahead of time so that members know what to expect at each class. Feel free to nerd out on it or come in cold and we'll explain everything during classes. On posted "Rest Days" you choose to do either the previous or following day's workout or take one of our speciality classes.
