Hi CFSBK Family!

In October I'm moving to Austin. Yes, Texas.

I'm taking one of those exciting career changing life risks that are all the rage I hear.

The hitch is, and believe me I've thought around this every which way to come to this conclusion, I need to adopt out my sweet sweet Friday Night Lights themed felines, Tim Riggins and Lyla Garrity. (If you watch FNL the irony that I can't take them with me is not lost on me. Texas Forever.)

If you or anyone you know might be interested in adopting one or both of these lovely animals please let me know. I'm into hearing about any and all leads you might have!

Please pass this on to anyone you know who I missed from this e-mail or friends/family from outside the gym who might be interested.

I'll inevitably gush more about how I'm going to miss all of you and what finding cfsbk has meant to me in the coming months but for now, CAT BIOS!

Love, sweat, meow,

The cat-cat rundown: (photos!!)

Much like the TV series FNL (spoiler alert) these two have a sometimes antagonistic relationship (usually just a little cat chase/ some weird yowling) so really they could stay together or break-up (I'm not going to tell you how the show ends)

Tim Riggins // male // orange tabby // 6 years-old // excellent health
interests: eye contact, tummy rubs, making biscuits, sitting right on top of your chest as close to your face as possible, eating food, sitting in windows, helping you make the bed, dogs (maybe, he was pretty chill & interested when benson came over)
hates: mondays

Tim, I think could be really cool living with Lyla or other cat(s) or living with a dog. He hasn't spent a lot of time around kids but my friend's 2y-o grabbed his tail once and he just ran away. He's a pretty laid back dude. One time he caught a mouse, so he's a natural hunter.

Lyla Garrity // female // grey-white w/ bits of orange tabby // 6 years-old // excellent health
interests: eye contact, following you around, purring almost constantly, curling up next to you, sitting on your things, squeezing into small boxes, eating food, drinking from fountains
hates: tummy rubs, when you keep trying to pet her after she decided she's done having you pet her, loud noises

Lyla, is a sweet girl who's anxiety runs high sometimes, basically she's me in cat form. She'd be cool living with Tim or otherwise probably alone with some relaxed humans. She'll hide under the bed when a lot of people come over, but she's certainly not the cat you never see and forget that you have. She's very loving. She will be your personal assistant.

We are heading back to Colorado for Christmas (Dec 21-28) and need a dog sitter for our great pup Oliver. He looks like Falcor from the Never Ending Story and is a friendly cuddle monster that gets along great with dogs, kids, and adults. Perhaps you have family coming in and they need a free place to crash? Maybe you just want a staycation in a modern apartment in South Slope. Or in exchange we can take your dog over Thanksgiving or any other time you are in need of a dogsitter. I’ll even throw in a bottle of great small batch whiskey from Colorado to sweeten the deal. Email hgerkin (at) if you are interested or know of any friends that need FREE accommodations in exchange for dog sitting over the Christmas.

After 10 years in animal rescue, I have started my own rescue group with a few friends!

PupStarz Rescue is a non-profit, no-kill, volunteer dog rescue serving New York City and the Tri-State area.
We are dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of dogs in public shelters who are at high risk of euthanasia due to overpopulation and those in danger of abuse or neglect.
Because PupStarz Rescue does not have a shelter, all of our “starz” are placed in nurturing foster homes while they await adoption into a forever home. We rely on the kindness and generosity of animal lovers to open their hearts and homes to dogs in need.

If you are looking to adopt a dog, or have thought about fostering or volunteering pls get in touch with me at:
Robyn.a.obrien (at) gmail

Or check us out on adopt-a-pet, facebook or instagram at pupstarzrescue

Some of the awesome pups that we currently have for adoption are:
-a litter of boxer/ shep puppies- 6 months old/ 6lbs
-Jewel, a female 5 month/ 30 lb Catahoula
-Dani, a female 4 year/ 11 lb Chi-weenie (fostered by our own Amy Muckerman)
-and several Chihuahua mix cuties!

Thank You!!!!

If you are on the hunt for the most amazing dog this city has to offer, look no further!

I am currently fostering the most beautiful, pure-bred Bull Terrier I have ever laid eyes on and its my mission to find him his forever home. Curly is 5-years old, 60lbs and just the sweetest, happiest, most loyal dog I have ever met. He is good with kids and other dogs. (He comes on a little too strong for cats though.) Bowie is a very gentle boy -- the instant I met him, he crawled into my lap and rested his head on my shoulder. He loves to snuggle on the couch or curl up on your feet and will follow you around everywhere - he wants nothing more than to make you happy. He and my French Bulldog get along wonderfully - they love to play in the backyard and go on long walks around Brooklyn together. One of his favorite activities is to jump through the sprinkler which is crazy adorable.

Curly is fully housebroken, knows basic commands, and is very, very eager to please. I can't express how sweet and special this dog is!!

For more information & submit an adoption application, please click on the link below and please feel free to contact me at to set up a meet and greet! I'd be more than happy to meet with you in person and tell you more about this amazing boy!

More Photos on Instagram:

(P.S. Even though his name is "Curly" according to the animal shelter, he doesn't really respond to it, so I've taken to calling him Bowie....which he's been responding to...anyway, its what I call him on social media, just to avoid any confusion!)

Do you or your friends/family need a place to stay for the holidays? I'm offering up my Park Slope apartment (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps ~4-6, 6th Ave. and Union St.) from December 24-28. All I'm looking for in return is someone to take care of Kima, my five-month-old kitten. She's extra adorable and just needs a little attention, food twice a day, and a clean litter box. I really don't want to board her, so if you know of anyone who is around, likes kittens, and wants a free place to stay, please let me know! lvs3h(at)virginia(dot)edu.

My good friend and her husband are looking for a home for a stray cat they took in a few months ago. See her note below and email if interested nicampo(at)gmail(dot)com or aaron(dot)gretzinger(at)gmail(dot)com.

"Friends and Family,

As many of you already know, we are trying to find a forever home for the stray kitten we took in a couple of months ago in Brooklyn. We have named him Ralphie, after the scrappy, red-headed character from the television show, "Happy Days". He has had his shots and has been fixed. His interests include cuddling, playing with strings and balls, and observing your interesting daily human tasks and habits.

Ralphie is an absolute treat but our adult male cat Vito doesn't share that same sentiment, and so Ralphie needs a new home. If we don't find a place for him by 12/20/15, he may need to go to a shelter. Please pass this around to anyone who you think might be interested."
